We rented bikes just up the road at "Great Bicycle Shop" (1 bike for 25 USD). The ride was nice and very easy, we saw some wildlife (birds, squirrels, snakes and angry dogs) and enjoyed a cold Cola and fried Shrimps at Riverside Café. The only thing i missed was more roadside signs showing distances to starting/ending points, nearest rest... More

The railroad ran from Tallahassee to St. Marks in 1835 and they took out the tracks and asphalted the bed a few years ago. Very nice trail and St. Marks is worth seeing...small museum with the old fort and good food right at the end of the trail.

We love riding this multi use trail on our road bikes. A perfect day is an early ride from the trail head in Tallahassee to St Marks then grab a scenic view in St. Mark's. Trail is canopy covered with trees and wildlife. Shady and peaceful. Popular place for bikers, runners, walkers and those who like to roller blade.

I've developed a love for riding Rails-to-Trails! So far St Marks Historic Railroad Trail has been one of the most enjoyable. Positives: Well maintained and visually stimulating. Negatives: Well, hmm, I can't say that I experienced any. Suggestions: If you are a recreational bicyalist like me be preapred and bring water, extra tire tube, pump and snacks. Try to travel... We actually went to Tallahassee to ride on the Tallahassee-St. Marks Rail trail. It is a beautiful trail and certainly worth the trip. It starts in Tallahassee and ends in the village of St. Marks that was a fishing village at one time.

Unlike so many rails to trails I've experienced that run alongside a major road and leave you exposed to traffic, the southern 7 miles or so of this trail are underneath a canopy of trees and runs through rural landscapes or behind small town country homes. Normally I would be grateful for copious amounts of shade, but we rode this... More

This trail has always been on my bucket list of Florida bike trails but couldn't justify the drive all the way from Tampa just to ride it. However, this past weekend we we had tickets to the FSU-Notre Dame game so decided to bring our bikes and was very glad that we did. The weather was perfect for bike riding... More

We rented hybrid bikes from the bicycle shop which is about 1.5 miles from the Tallahassee trail head. We cycled at a leisurely pace taking time to stop and enjoy the surroundings. We did just 23 miles total and it was an enjoyable cycle. I think cycling from the St Marks Trailhead may have been more scenic, however and would... More

I've rode this trail many times in the past couple of years. I start in Tallahassee at the Capital Circle Trailhead ending at St. Marks. The last 6 miles, from Hwy 98 to St. Marks is the prettiest part with a lot shade and some curves. A flat trail with many chances to stop for water, benches or restrooms along... More
