What a lovely experience I had upon wondering this shop. Not only did I find some great gift ideas for the holidays, but I was told about the artist and history of the pieces. Made buying the items so much more meaningful than to just buy without that knowledge. They offer a huge assortment of eco-friendly items too - like... More

We always enjoy visiting this shop to see the multitude of fascinating and beautiful masks, tableware, jewelry, carvings and much more. The owner is very welcoming and will let you browse to your heart's content. It's very difficult to leave without making a purchase because there are so many beautiful things at very reasonable prices.

On my recent trip to Sarasota, my sister Diana, took me to this wonderful little shop. It's owned by Gary who was there when we dropped in. As fellow South Africans we had a great time looking at all the different stuff he had for sale. This place is an absolute must to see if you are South African, however,... More

Whenever we need an unusual and quality African gift we always head directly to Nontando, Gary, the owner is always extremely helpful and friendly, always willing to give great advice. Our first stop when looking for gifts.

A group of about 5 of us went to go and get some South African goodies from this store. Imagine our surprise when the owner rushed to the door, told us the store was closed [an OPEN sign was clear on the door, with the closing time indicated as 5PM. It was Just after 2pm]. He closed the door [not... More

Wow! We could have spent hours in this store. If you enjoy African art, culture, history and artifacts with an expedition story - this place is for you. We can't wait to go back and see what else we can add to our collection of African art. We enjoy one of a kind pieces to make our home unique and... More

I love shopping at Nontando. I feel like I just entered an African marketplace. The store is filled with unique and creative artwork. I have always favored the amazing craftsmanship of this country. The colors, fabrics, patterns and style add beauty and comfort to my home. I highly recommend shopping at Nontando.

Nontando has found my wife's birthday presents. She had no idea that she was getting South African hand made metal animals for the garden. She brought them inside as they are that nice.

A great find of a store in the Gulf Gate neighborhood of Sarasota...we stumbled into Nontando while waiting for a table next door at Word of Mouth during one of our annual winter trips to Sarasota several years ago. Large selection of authentic museum quality African masks and other collectibles at affordable prices. Actually everything in the store is very... More

Nontando goes the extra mile to search for authentic merchandise in South Africa. This means buying from the artists themselves so ensuring a fair and equal trade. The product is thoughtfully displayed at the store and invites you into a jungle of masks, furniture, ostrich egg shells - a fun adventure! I expect to fend off Lions and Leopards -... More
