Description: For more than 60 years, the Sarasota Orchestra has been entertaining music...
For more than 60 years, the Sarasota Orchestra has been entertaining music lovers from around the region, and visitors from around the world. The 80-member Orchestra performs more than 100 classical, pops and family concerts each year, and thrives as the oldest continuing orchestra in the state of Florida. In 2008 the organization unveiled a new name and logo with a package that offers new series, new concerts and a whole new way to experience live music, along with the timeless classics. An arts leader in the community, the Sarasota Orchestra has a dual mission, dedicated to exquisite performance and first-class musical education. The Sarasota Orchestra's acclaimed music education program includes the 50-year-old Youth Orchestra, which features five ensembles – the most advanced of which, The Youth Philharmonic, made its Carnegie Hall debut in 2008. The Sarasota Orchestra also offers music lessons for students of all ages and abilities, sponsors multiple community-outreach programs and is the parent program of the Sarasota Music Festival.

My wife and I have heard symphony orchestras in major US and European cities. This orchestra ranks with the best anywhere.

We have gone to hear the orchestra a number of times, and they have all been great performances. Recently we saw Anu Tali direct with such grace and bring new beauty to a favorite piece. She was a wonderful choice as director. Today they were in Englewood for a pops concert. We enjoyed the selections and the skill with which... More

The Sarasota Orchestra, led by Anu Tali, is an authentically first-rate ensemble that combines youth, vigor and musicianship to absolutely dazzle the concert-goer. It's almost worth moving to Sarasota just to hear it over and over.

We went to the Sarasota Orchestra for the first time recently. Having been raised with the Philly and the San Francisco orchestras, we know our way around concert halls. Well, the Sarasota Orchestra is truly an outstanding regional orchestra. The program we attended was superb - good choice of pieces, fine playing, and strong leadership on the podium - and... More

This production was simply amazing. The music was interesting and moving and the words mesmerizing. It was a terrific evening. We especially enjoyed the Q&A period at the performance end.

The Sarasota Orchestra is the hot ticket in town. The latest evidence is a sold-out performance this month of a complex, musically-demanding composition by a contemporary German composer. Despite total unfamiliarity, and the fact that the concert was a last minute addition to the schedule -- with little time to promote the event -- every available seat was quickly snatched... More

This orchestra presents a variety of music, music that appeals to all tastes, and does so with excellence and professionalism. We especially love the Masterworks and Soiree series. Anu Tali has done a superb job of programming concerts, and an even better job of conducting them. The musicians are first -rate, and recent concerts have been sellouts.

Presents an annual program offered in a comfortable and acoustically superior opera house in the city center of Sarasota. An annual concert free and open to the public offers a sampler of the music featured in the upcoming year's program.

An outstanding orchestra that gets better every year. The new conductor is very dynamic. If you wish to see a soloist you can't beat the first row seats 6 to 10, which by the way are some of the cheapest seats in the Van Wezel. Edmund Garrett

My wife and I attended the first Masterworks concert of the season on Nov 7 at VanWezel. Excellent choice of material, and wonderful conducting by Anu Tali and performance by the orchestra. This is our first year for season tickets, and we got right in the center. That is the place to be if you can at all get tickets... More

Thank you, David! And welcome to your first year as subscribers as they get the best (and first) pick of seats. It sounds like our subscription seating team assigned you to great house seats! I hope you enjoy the next performance! More
