Description: For more than 60 years, the Sarasota Orchestra has been entertaining music...
For more than 60 years, the Sarasota Orchestra has been entertaining music lovers from around the region, and visitors from around the world. The 80-member Orchestra performs more than 100 classical, pops and family concerts each year, and thrives as the oldest continuing orchestra in the state of Florida. In 2008 the organization unveiled a new name and logo with a package that offers new series, new concerts and a whole new way to experience live music, along with the timeless classics. An arts leader in the community, the Sarasota Orchestra has a dual mission, dedicated to exquisite performance and first-class musical education. The Sarasota Orchestra's acclaimed music education program includes the 50-year-old Youth Orchestra, which features five ensembles – the most advanced of which, The Youth Philharmonic, made its Carnegie Hall debut in 2008. The Sarasota Orchestra also offers music lessons for students of all ages and abilities, sponsors multiple community-outreach programs and is the parent program of the Sarasota Music Festival.

Love it. Beautiful Downtown Sarasota has a gem of an Opera house. I have seen a few shows, events and attended film festivals there as well. They have wine, and a nice courtyard. This Opera House is by Five Points Park, and you can park at the Library or Starbucks. I always stroll down Main Street to the waterfront after... More

Parking was easy, in a paved lot by the building. The music hall was the orchestra's rehearsal hall and was just flat seating on folding chairs on the lower level (stage level) and theatre seats along a narrow balcony. It was fine for the concert; just don't expect any decor. Having said that, the orchestra was a delight. We enjoyed... More

We have always enjoyed the SO, since moving here 5 years ago, but Anu Tali, has taken the orchestra to new heights. There is a new passion in every note. Bravo!

My wife and I have heard symphony orchestras in major US and European cities. This orchestra ranks with the best anywhere.

We have gone to hear the orchestra a number of times, and they have all been great performances. Recently we saw Anu Tali direct with such grace and bring new beauty to a favorite piece. She was a wonderful choice as director. Today they were in Englewood for a pops concert. We enjoyed the selections and the skill with which... More

The Sarasota Orchestra, led by Anu Tali, is an authentically first-rate ensemble that combines youth, vigor and musicianship to absolutely dazzle the concert-goer. It's almost worth moving to Sarasota just to hear it over and over.

We went to the Sarasota Orchestra for the first time recently. Having been raised with the Philly and the San Francisco orchestras, we know our way around concert halls. Well, the Sarasota Orchestra is truly an outstanding regional orchestra. The program we attended was superb - good choice of pieces, fine playing, and strong leadership on the podium - and... More

This production was simply amazing. The music was interesting and moving and the words mesmerizing. It was a terrific evening. We especially enjoyed the Q&A period at the performance end.

The Sarasota Orchestra is the hot ticket in town. The latest evidence is a sold-out performance this month of a complex, musically-demanding composition by a contemporary German composer. Despite total unfamiliarity, and the fact that the concert was a last minute addition to the schedule -- with little time to promote the event -- every available seat was quickly snatched... More

This orchestra presents a variety of music, music that appeals to all tastes, and does so with excellence and professionalism. We especially love the Masterworks and Soiree series. Anu Tali has done a superb job of programming concerts, and an even better job of conducting them. The musicians are first -rate, and recent concerts have been sellouts.
