Nice trail

Very nice trail. Very clean. We saw turtles on the trail. Make sure you walk early in the morning as it can get pretty hot. Bring water.

We biked the trail today starting on MacIntosh Rd in Sarasota. This is a Rails to Trails paved bike path on the old railway line extending over 10 miles between Sarasota and Venice. The trail goes through a wooden area but still gets quite a lot of sun. There are various places where you can park your car and access... More

I can walk to this trail from my apt complex & It's only about 1 mile away. It's such a good idea & everyone is so polite. I am hoping to get a bike very soon so I can ride it down to Venice

Started at the Laurel Road trailhead and rode to Casparsen Beach. Found a shark tooth or two and then stopped at Sharkey's for lunch. Followed the Venice Trail back to the Legacy Trail and back to Laurel Road. Great outing. About 15 mile round trip. Easy enjoyable ride along Venice Canal. Not a better way to spend a morning getting... More

Did this ride for the first time today. I am not a confident cyclist but found this trail an easy gentle ride with lots of stops to take in the beautiful views. There were other, more competent riders than I but everyone was polite and I thoroughly enjoyed my morning exercise.

We rented bikes in North Venice at Real Bikes and drove the trail south to the end. Very nice route along the Intercoastal Waterway. Lots of room. Very pleasant.

This re-purposed rail line makes a wonderful biking/walking from the gulf through Venice and on to Sarasota. Great for a quick ride, or a day trip. Lots of stops and scenic lookouts along the way, and plenty of opportunities to detour through adjoining neighborhoods and parks. Can be busy in season.

Great for bikers, walkers and runners. Wide and off road to avoid car traffic. Maps are available. I love this idea for encouraging people to be more fit and enjoy the outdoors in safety.

The trail is paved end to end and is wide enough to accommodate bicycles, roller blades and runners going each direction. There are mini shelters about every mile and there are porta-potties and water available at several stops. There are several parking lots close to the trail. We rode the trail on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it was fairly... More

peaceful (although getting more crowded) trail for bikers, runners, walkers, skaters etc., and unfortunately dog walkers. (I love dogs, but don't love "stepping in them"). Many birds, bobcats, river otters, Osprey, eagles, owls on occasion etc. The great growing Sarasota "getaway" for the athlete and nature lover who's tired of sand between the toes and crowds. Bring water.
