Small but very good aquarium, especially for kids. The volunteers their are very helpful and knowledgeable. I was impressed with the tanks for the sea horses. I saw small ones the size of a dot from a pencil point. Small jelly fish, and a blind turtle. Also next to the aquarium is a bird sanctuary where injured birds are cared... More

The volunteers were so very helpful and the pace was slow and easy. I learned a lot and hope one day to bring my grandsons

We visited the lab last February because I LOVE sea turtles. I was not disappointed! There are lots of manatees, sea turtles and dolphins that you get to see up close and personal. The volunteers on staff were more than helpful to answer questions and were happy to talk to us. This is an actual laboratory and sea life conservation... More

The staff selling the tickets put an immediate damper on the day, but after visiting the lab, I was less annoyed. I did learn & enjoyed the experience.

This is a small-ish aquarium compared to a place like the Tampa or Georgia aquarium but much more goes on behind the scenes to recue local animals and research sea life. It's worth a visit to see up close the sea turtles and manatees. The explorers boat tour is absolutely fantastic, particularly if you live somewhere land-locked and don't get... More

Sea turtles and manatees, no better place to see them up close unless you paddle among them. This is also a turtle hospital. They understand the ecology, they teach children the proper way to see and experience wildlife.

Located on City Island in Sarasota Bay, the aquarium was a beautiful place to see marine animals in their environments. Kids, as well as adults will enjoy it. And get a shake from the City Diner in the aquarium! They are excellent!

Mote Marine Laboratory is primarily a research facility that provides education and entertainment as a byproduct. The facility is quite extensive, consisting of three main areas open to visitors. The main building consists of aquarium tanks and a large pool billed as the "Shark Zone" where, if you're there on the appropriate day and time, you can watch the shark... More

Perfectly sized facility so as not to overwhelm even the most reluctant "museum" goer. The staff was soooo helpful, friendly and knew just when to approach us with information and when to back off. I've never been to a facility with such impressive volunteers as these. You can tell they love being there to offer assistance. Super excited to see... More
