Mom, Husband, 2.5 year old and myself. Had a "non beach day" adventure to Sarasota Jungle Gardens. We went on a Thursday - mid April - not too crowded, not too hot, and easy parking. It's old Florida charm, very well kept, and the perfect amount of stimulation and ease for both daughter and my mom. The gardens are beautiful... More

We spent several fun hours today at the Sarasota Jungle Gardens with a 2 year old who loved it! It is well maintained and the animals are well taken care of. I would recommend it for a great way to kill a few hours with young children.

We brought two families to the Sarasota Jungle Gardens and each of us had younger children, 3, 4, and 6 years of age and everyone had a great time. It is rather pricy and it cost over $40 for me and my two small children. It is good enough to keep kids attention for about an hour and a half.... More

This is a mom and pop operation so they may not have the resources of some of the glossed venues but we enjoyed it immensely. It has a very raw non-commercialized feel to it. You get up close and personal with all the animals. Nice little boat ride is included. Great spot to visit on your way to or from... More

the jungle gardens were enjoyed by my whole family. My husband was especially pleased when one of the flamingoes (#38) stepped over the wall and started to guide us through the exhibits. Our family named him Charles. When we asked about #38 they told us his name was kamikaze and he was an unmated flamingo and that he wanders away... More

I grew up in Sarasota and have visited Jungle Gardens many times over the years. I must say I don't understand why they have gotten so many horrible reviews recently. I took a friend with me who loves photography, and he immensely enjoyed taking pictures of the many colorful parrots and other animals they had on display, not to mention... More

We visited this attraction last week. While my young grandchildren enjoyed seeing birds, animals and reptiles, the attraction seemed a bit worse for weare. It also struck me that there were no staff people or lounger docents throughout the garden. At the flamingo area, we saw many people crowded the birds inside their area. It didn't seem very safe.

It was dirty and unkept. Lots of bad smells, throughout. Reptile Building was so hot, it was difficult to breathe. Creatures' pens were awful and in bad shape. Did not have all the attractions listed on the Brochure; butterfly garden, no birds of prey, skunks, petting zoo. Worst of all, it did not even "feel" like a jungle. Save your... More

$15 a person and even though my granddaughter got in for free we paid $45 for 3 of us. We walked the whole area, which wasn't that far and all we saw loose was a white peacock. the animal cages had 1 animal each and smelled like urine. The flamingos that supposedly "walked around" eating out of your hand were... More

Why good reviews? Please allow me to answer that question. Sarasota Jungle Gardens is a unique family owned and beloved local attraction. It was opened in 1939 as a botanical garden and later evolved into include rescued animals and educational programs for local and worldwide visitors. We offer a less hurried, more up close and often hands on experience for... More

Went here as a kid and loved it. Now 24 yrs old and took my 3 kids here. It was awful. Some of the exhibits were closed. Their "petting zoo" consisted of 4 goats which you can't go inside to pet, and the kids can reach over the railing. The bird shows are stupid, and the reptile exhibit building smells... More

We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your visit and the petting zoo. The petting zoo is a new exhibit still being stocked and has not yet been officially opened. The four goats you mention are only the first of the animals planned for that area. There is a very sweet miniature cow (Brutus) that is there now,... More
