Description: Asolo Repertory Theatre, Florida's premier professional theatre, is one of...
Asolo Repertory Theatre, Florida's premier professional theatre, is one of the most important cultural forces in the Southeastern United States. A center for theatrical excellence, Asolo Rep stages up to 10 productions every season, spanning a diverse repertoire of newly commissioned plays, bold reinterpretations of contemporary and classical works, and provocative new musical theatre experiences. Asolo Rep is a major force in Sarasota's rich arts scene, whose quality and depth rivals some of the largest urban centers in the country. Asolo Rep is annually the creative home of more than 100 artists, technical craftsmen, and administrative staff. Its talented and accomplished resident acting company is complemented by top flight, award-winning directors, designers, and guest artists who come to Sarasota from around the country and around the world. Under the dynamic leadership of Producing Artistic Director Michael Donald Edwards and Managing Director Linda DiGabriele, more than 100,000 patrons are drawn each year to the theatre's rotating repertory season. In its role as the largest professional not-for-profit theatre in the U.S. south of Atlanta, Asolo Rep serves as a springboard for successful productions to travel to Broadway and other regional theatres throughout the country. 2015 Season: January 6-April 11 "The Matchmaker" By Thornton Wilder | Directed by Peter Amster January 14-March 1 "Good People" By David Lindsay-Abaire | Directed by Greg Leaming January 21-April 12 "Both Your Houses" By Maxwell Anderson | Directed by Frank Galati March 11-April 19 "Our Betters" by W. My wife and I have been enjoying productions at the Asolo for years during our retreat from the winter storms up north. Some productions have been better than others but they were all worth the price of admission. Look into the multiple production package if you have the time.

We saw the show, sort of a musical biography, of Woody Guthrie. This is a nice theater, good acoustics and sight-lines even for short little me. Volunteers are pleasant and helpful.

My friend and I thought this show was even better than last year. Kirk Marsh was a great clown, very original, the 13 year old Sebastian St. Jules was great doing his juggling act, the Alvarex Family astounded us all on their teeterboard, Dolla Jacobs may be famous, but her act was not quite as exceptional as last year, a... We attend most Broadway plays and were a little reluctant to try this theatre when on vacation. We were pleasantly surprised. All of us enjoyed the show and the cast was truly of professional calibre. Seats were comfortable and there are good sigh lines and sound. If in that area, check it out.

We come to the Asolo and find something enjoyable to see with each visit. This time is was one of the student-repertory pieces, [Name of Show]. The Student-Rep takes place in the intimate little theatre adjacent to the historic Asolo...5th row back feels like the actors are talking directly to YOU! Fully wheelchair accessible. They offer wine and I think... More

The Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida has not only an appealing theater venue but also offers some great drama and musical selections during its theater season. I had the opportunity to attend two of the 2014-2015 season offerings: "Both Your Houses," which is play about the workings of the House Appropiations Committee in Washington D.C. relative to ethics and... A friend and I went to see DUSAN TYNEK DANCE THEATER "Camera Illuminata" tonight. The first thing I want to advise the people working backstage: "PLEASE LOWER THE VOLUME OF THE MUSIC"!!!! It was very disturbing. Then throughout the first dance act, there was this loud yapping of a dog, enough to give the audience a headache. No one knew... More

We were very pleasantly entertained today at this showing of Good People. There was a preview they called The Scoop hosted by Peggy Roeder of the cast that was excellent. We got to meet this seasoned actress and that made the play so much better. Nice job Peggy
