Asolo Repertory Theatre, Florida's premier professional theatre, is one of the most important cultural forces in the Southeastern United States. A center for theatrical excellence, Asolo Rep stages up to 10 productions every season, spanning a diverse repertoire of newly commissioned plays, bold reinterpretations of contemporary and classical works, and provocative new musical theatre experiences. Asolo Rep is a major force in Sarasota's rich arts scene, whose quality and depth rivals some of the largest urban centers in the country. We come to the Asolo and find something enjoyable to see with each visit. This time is was one of the student-repertory pieces, [Name of Show]. The Student-Rep takes place in the intimate little theatre adjacent to the historic Asolo...5th row back feels like the actors are talking directly to YOU! Fully wheelchair accessible. They offer wine and I think... More

The Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida has not only an appealing theater venue but also offers some great drama and musical selections during its theater season. I had the opportunity to attend two of the 2014-2015 season offerings: "Both Your Houses," which is play about the workings of the House Appropiations Committee in Washington D.C. relative to ethics and... A friend and I went to see DUSAN TYNEK DANCE THEATER "Camera Illuminata" tonight. The first thing I want to advise the people working backstage: "PLEASE LOWER THE VOLUME OF THE MUSIC"!!!! It was very disturbing. Then throughout the first dance act, there was this loud yapping of a dog, enough to give the audience a headache. No one knew... More

We were very pleasantly entertained today at this showing of Good People. There was a preview they called The Scoop hosted by Peggy Roeder of the cast that was excellent. We got to meet this seasoned actress and that made the play so much better. Nice job Peggy

So pleased we caught a matinee performance of "Both Your Houses." Excellent cast and leads, Broadway quality. Play was written in the 30s, but well written and a very timely subject matter for today (ethics in politics). Good staging. Easy to hear all. Friendly volunteer ushers. Lovely lobby and outdoor seating area. Big complaint: the seats, first row mezzanine--our knees... More

We saw a"First Date" at the ASOLO theater and it was great! The jokes came in rapid fire, but if you are affended by religious jokes this show may not be for you. They also have a cafe for dinner and the food was great. An evening to remember.

We were fortunate to get tickets to a performance and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a small theater but great leg room. The cast was superb and most have done some new York theater or other traveling shows. Highly recommend it.

Saw the play Matchmaker, which is what Hello Dolly was based upon. The production had a wonderful actress playing the role of Dolly. She was terrific. However, I guess I have to say that Thornton Wilder's humor is not timeless. I found it vapid and not a chuckle escaped my mouth. However, I will admit that I was most distracted... More

We knew that we wanted to see as many productions as possible and had gone on line and bought the tickets, months in advance. Their repertory cast did a fine job with the three plays we saw this January. The Matchmaker, Good People and Both Your Houses were performed. This theatre has wonderful sight lines and is small enough to... More
