In their own intimate theatre, the Sarasota Opera put on 4-5 productions each winter, and the standard is very high. Even my wife (no opera fan) looks forward to it.

We have been patrons of Sarasota Opera since we moved here in 1994. Have never missed a performance in 20 years. Every performance is a high quality experience. There are just a few operas that I may not have enjoyed because of the inane story line or cumbersome length of the production but the individual performances even in those instances... More

I go to the opera every year because it's such an incredible experience. The singing, acting, and costumes are fabulous. If cost is not a concern and you enjoy music, don't miss the Sarasota opera!

They tend to overfull the stage with large, clunky scenery. however, productions are not of the European "regietheater" type; all are traditional, which is good. Saw "Jerusalem" (excellent female lead) and "Dutchman" (female lead very, very good).

This small opera house has been turning out quality opera for years and it seems to get better every year. The productions are classical & no details seem to be overlooked. This is a very special part of Sarasota and it should not be missed if visiting or living there.

Sarasota Opera is superb! Make sure you get to at least one performance while visiting Sarasota during the winter season.

Yesterday, we went to our first show at the Opera house....the building has the feel of big city as did the quality of the show. Since it is off season, the Opera was not sold out which gave us the opportunity to try different seating options. Would recommend anywhere on first floor. If you choose the balcony, go for center,... More

Four grandparents and an aunt traveled to Florida, November 2013, to attend the Youth Opera's production of The Little Sweep, in which our 8-year-old grandson appeared. Everything about the opera house is nice, including the interior and the patio. The production was excellent, and exceeded our expectations. The neighborhood is a delight for walking with shops, a nearby library that... More

I subscribe to the Sarasota Opera, so clearly I think it's great. We are so fortunate to have such a high-quality opera available to us in a city of this size. My only complaint is that the winter opera season is so short that in order to subscribe, one must see an opera each week for four weeks, rather than... More

The Sarasota Opera presents about 4 or 5 different opera productions each season, which extends from December to April. For the past few decades they have been engaged in a cycle to present every opera by Verdi, but other operas are also included in each season's schedule. We saw a performance of Verdi's Il Trovatore. The production was first rate... More
