Was staying in the Hyatt nearby, thought we would try the Friday Fest, sun was out but rain was forecast. So it was moved inside, how was this going to work I wondered ....Entry was free, the main entrance had a bar and food stalls, in the lower lobby more food and drinks, we sat outside with a beer, overlooking... Bought 2 tickets online for this one night performance at the Van Wezel. Arrived 25 min before the show, long line for Valet parking. Not enough handicap parking spots, but drop off nearby offered. Fanastic hall for music and theater performances. Easy access to all seats. Can take drinks in purchased from the 3 to 4 bars. Martina McBride had... More

Went to Van Wezel this year for a boring Beatles cover band. But the lousy band was not the worst of it. The physical building is horribly designed. From a confusing parking lot layout, to a meandering trek through endless halls from the front to the actual theater, to an auditorium with NO CENTER AISLE. Are you kidding me? We... More

For a relatively small city, the Van Wezel attracts some big name talent and has very diverse musical and comedic offerings. But it's one of the sorriest venues for its size I have ever been in. The lack of a center aisle is just unforgivable. If you in the middle you are likely to become claustrophobic by the end of... More

On June 15, 2014, my husband and I had tickets for the hugely popular Move Live on Tour show with Julianne and Derek Hough. It was an exciting dance show that we viewed with binoculars!! Our trouble is with the ticketing of the Van Wezel. We wrote the date down when they would BEGIN selling tickets. Called them that very... More

We loved the Sarasota production of the Nutcracker. Many families were there with children and the staging and design by the Sarasota Ballet was fantastic. My daughter also went to the Van Wezel with her kindergarten class to see productions based on children's books and had a great time. As with many performing arts halls, the only negative comment is... More

Beautiful purple Frank Lloyd Wright designed theater seating 1800 people. Acoustics not perfect however. They offer some good shows, bringing Broadway to Sarasota. Setting is gorgeous on the Bay. Beautiful place

On April 23, 2014 my wife and I went to a performance of Shen Yun. We bought the tickets two months prior to the show and was not told that the seats had an obstructed view of the stage. So, we missed viewing about 20 percent of the production. At intermission, my wife spoke to the box office manager to... More

We are season ticket holders and buy a number of other tickets throughout the season!! You can't beat the pricing or quality of performances!! We go to Tampa to see the first runs of the National Tours. - but love the variety that arrives each year in Sarasota!! Ushers can be a little over the top - but they are... More

I am certain that this auditorium attracts top talent and shows. I, however, didn't have the opportunity, nor was I encouraged to see any of them. A rainy week in Sarasota left me and my husband to look for indoor options. We stopped at Van Wezel and were treated with a sense of distain. We were looking for options and... More
