Yes, it is crowded, noisy, and they don't take plastic, but just flow with it. We go here every time we visit. You just have to. The food and beer are good. Then go relax at the beach.

The food was as good as many of the eateries in the area but not so good I'd rave about it. Two drawbacks - Cash only and you eat what's on the daily board or you don't eat.

We had an excellent meal - shrimp and crawfish tails on pasta, and grouper. Fresh, perfectly prepared, nice size portion, at a reasonable price. Only complaint was that sitting on the outside deck that was way too dark. Need to put in some sort of Christmas tree lights, any kind of muted light at all. The dark deck did not... More

I've been here several times before, but forgot they only take checks or cash. There is an ATM inside however. On a Saturday night off-season I expected it to be busy, but it was ridiculously crowded inside and too loud to hear each other talk. Our wait was only 45 minutes and they hit it very close to what we... More

Great ecelectic place not to be missed on Hwy 30A. Quirky decor and old posters line every corner - back to Haight Ashbury. Went for lunch durig week week and had a 15 minute wait in the bar. Bloody Mary's are fantastic and for beer drinker's try the local brew. I opted for seafood gumbo and salad. Delicious, just enough... More

Based on a recommendation we went to Red Bar. In short, it was great. We had about a 35 minute wait so we sat on a sort of love seat. Other furniture--all old--was in this area which made waiting okay. Then live music, right next to us, started. I thought we'd be blown away by the bass, but the volume... More

Having been to the Red Bar a 15 or more times over the past 10 years, I always look forward to my dining experience. While still funky and good service, my most recent visit was mediocre at best. The shrimp & crawfish was bland, no visible or taste of crab and pasta under cooked. Maybe just a bad night, but... More

If you are anywhere near Santa Rosa Beach, the you have to try the Red Bar. It would appear to be busy all the time and that, in itself, is a clear recommendation. It was loud, had live music, full of atmosphere and the food was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful even though the place was... More

As others have said, this is something of a dive with movie posters and graffiti all over the walls and tables and chairs that have seen better days. But you'll notice it will be packed every night. True there is not a huge selection of restaurants in the area, but still the main reason everyone comes back is the food.... More
