This is wonderful library. The children's area has a varied area of toys and engaging activities. It is well laid out and so clean! There is a labelled shell collection as you enter and the shells are a beautiful representation. That alone is worth a visit. You can purchase a ten dollar card good for one year as a visitor.... A mall library, when compared to to some of the large municipal ones, but far from a tiny one. A good sized physical plant and layout make browsing their collection ... large by small community standards ... an absolute delight. They have an unusually large A/V collection ... DVD's, video tapes, music and audio books ... and, in addition to... More

A well-organized and beautifully designed library with helpful staff and little alcoves to sit and read overlooking lush greenery. And great molluscan treasures in the front glass cases.

This is our 3rd year visiting the island. We have a 6 year old and an almost 2 year old. Walking in to the lobby there is a pretty extensive personal shell collection- so diverse that if you don't want to pay the fee for the shell museum you can see quite a variety here for FREE. My children were... More

My daughters and I stayed on the island for a week and visited the library twice. Wonderful environment and very friendly staff. We loved looking through many books and magazines. They also had many toys for little ones to play with which my kids especially loved since they were missing their toys from home. They also have where you can... More

The library is fantastic! You can get a membership for one year for $10 when you stay on the island. That allows you to check out any of their wide range of books (with many up-to-date titles) and check out up to 10 videos for a week (again many recent titles plus a HUGE selection of older ones). The librarian... More

We stopped in to use a computer and stayed all afternoon. There are lovely little nature/historical displays throughout the library and the book/dvd/music selection is awesome.

Put out home town library to shame. Lovely architecture, nice size collection of books, and some pretty amazing shell displays too!

Sanibel runs their own library system, and it's a delight. Card holders get free access to the historical museum and other attractions, and the library staff is low key, friendly, helpful, and just a grand bunch! This is a modern and well-stocked facility well worth the visit to browse, borrow, or just view the displays.
