We use barrier island habitats of Sanibel and Captiva to give our students an opportunity to touch, feel, and understand their surroundings. Thanks to the nature of field education, we provide a rich ocean experience that will invigorate students for a lifetime of appreciation and responsibility. We offer transformative education. Iur 9 yr. old daughter was enrolled at Sanibel Sea School for a day and a half during our week-long visit to Sanibel recently. She LOVED it! Great variety of things to learn about & great depth of learning on each subject (ex: on shark day they learned about sharks, actually dissected one then made a shark's tooth necklace to... More

Karen, I am so glad that your family enjoyed ocean discovery with Sanibel Sea School. The ocean is a fantastic place to remind us how compelling the process of discovery is. The sharks we dissect are accidentally caught and killed by commercial fisherman (such fish are called bycatch); teaching kids is a great way to use this resource that otherwise... More

This was the third year our 9 year-old daughter has been to Sea School. She absolutely loves it! The first year she went one day, the next year she went two, and this year she went 3. She has learned so much about dolphins, sea turtles, fish, manatees, sharks, crabs and mangroves. She kept a journal each day, and taught... More

We just spent a week at the South Seas resort during which our twin eight-year old boys spent two half-day sessions at the Sanibel Sea School. They absolutely loved it! There was a great mix of hands-on learning, the instructors really related well to the kids and the boys were learning while having fun. Michelle and Darren were great. The... More

Our grandchildren (second grade and kindergarten) loved Sea School. They were only signed up for one afternoon to learn about sharks. When we picked them up, they were so enthusiastic and excited - they really wanted to sign up for more. So we signed them up for sea horses. If they could have done so, they would have gone each... My children (9 yr old girl and 8 yr old boy) spent two days at Sannibel Sea School. Our intention was to just do the one day (sharks), but they would not stop begging us to go back for the second day (Ospreys). They loved all the activities and especially enjoyed their counselors...it was a great experience. And as parents,... More

We starting going to Sanibel 4 years ago. We were lucky enough to be introduced to SX3, Sanibel Sea School. We have not missed a year to Sanibel and will NEVER miss a trip to SX3. My kids talk about it all year until they can return. We as parents love it for several reasons. It's so entertaining and educational... More

Peggy G I am so honored and excited that we can engage with your family and watch your kids grow through their ocean experiences. In many ways, the staff of Sanibel Sea School are just curators of an institution that belongs to kids like yours. It is so fulfilling to watch them come in repeatedly to THEIR school and feel... We sent our three grandchildren, boy, 8, boy, 6 and girl, 6 for the day and they loved it. They could not stop talking about the other children they met, what they learned and the fun they had. We had lunch with them to see if they wanted to stay for the second half day session and there was no... More

My 6 year old son loved his experience at Sanibel Sea school. He especially liked the hands on nature of the program and the "field work" of being out on the sand and in ocean. Great topics, instruction, and crafts. Would highly recommend! More

Sanibel Sea School is a unique, amazing experience for kids. In fact, my son and daughter had so much fun last year that it was one of the main draws bringing us back to the South Seas Resort for yet another spring break vacation this year (and in fact, I think we will be back next year too). My first... More
