If you are looking for the heartbeat of the island, Periwinkle Way is it. Shops, ice cream parlors, bike rentals and restaurants line the Way. Many of the shops have the same items so you will have to look for the unique items. After 4pm the "ugly" exodus begins and you can expect long delays to make the bridge. Hint;... More

A wide variety of shops, upscale and tourist; something for everyone, jewelry and noted artwork, with a tropical themed focus

Terrific stores to go in and out of. You will definitely find something to take home with you Traffic is horrendous though. Difficulty in getting in and out of the parking lots onto Periwinkle Way.

Nice quaint shops on this stretch. We come back every year to do a little shopping and sightseeing. The only issue is the traffic during spring break. It is terrible. We would spend more time in this area, but the traffic keeps us away.

If you like crowds, noise, and lots of traffic while you are on your island vacation, then Periwinkle Way is your spot. It's were all the shopping is on Sanibel, so naturally it's busy as can be. But it is also where many of the good restaurants are, so sometimes you have to suck it up, leave the beach, and... More

I loved the shops, and there was a lot of them, but most of the stuff was out of my price range. There was a good place to eat there though, called the Blue Giraffe. Try the Island French toast!

Lots of good places to eat. Fun shops. Wonderful bike and walking paths. But traffic can be a real downer. Plan to be on island time.

A lovely drive when its not busy but better still if you can bring or hire a bicycle you will have more enjoyment particularly as when we were here, there was a lot of traffic congestion at certain times of the day. The cycle tracks are separate from the roadway, so that if your a novice cyclist you can come... More

Periwinkle Way is the main thorough way for the Island of Sanibel, there is going to be crazy traffic during the busy season especially in March. I believe the Islands population is about 6,000 and swells to over 60,000 in the busy season and they all have to maneuver off and on this road. Early morning coming onto the island... More

I was very thankful that I was moving against the flow of traffic. The vehicles were stopped for miles heading into town at about 5:00 pm, and by the time I left the Island a couple hours later we had no traffic issues. There are a lot of shops and restaurants along this stretch. We had other plans, so we... More
