Lots of beach shops and resturants

Cute little beachy town with lots of shell shops, t-shirt shops, food, grocery and bike rentals. Lots of traffic for the off season, but always something to look at!

This is one of the main roads in Sanibel. It can be very busy during the tourists season. Remember to yield to the cyclists.

This is the place to shop. Stop by and say hello to the staff at Congress Jewelers. They are very customer service oriented and have beautiful jewelry.

This is the main street running through Sanibel Island. All the shops are pretty much located on this strip.

Periwinkle Way is the main road through Sanibel and connects to the road to Captiva. It is loaded with great shops and yummy restaurants all along it, punctuated by T-shirt shops and shell shops. There are no stop lights on the islands, although at times there is someone directing traffic at the intersection with the causeway.

I found traffic quite light, but it was early in the day when we got out to Sanibel. Later, it was a bit heavier. I set cruise control on 35, and enjoyed the scenery. Speed limit is 30 - 35 most of the way. I wish I was staying on Sanibel, and not Fort Myers.

I love Sanibel Island's bicycle trails. I was able to go anywhere I wanted on the island on a bike. It is very level with few (almost no ) steep grades. So enjoyable to see the island from the seat of a bicycle instead of enclosed in a car. Periwinkle Way has lots of different attractions along the way -... More

The entire island is beautiful but Periwinkle was charming and laid back. We explored several of the shops and restaurants and not disappointed by anything

This is a little hidden gem, perfectly tucked in amidst the mangrove and palm trees! This is a great place to go to escape the hot afternoon sun!

The shops are a little ticky tacky touristy. Get here early, as the traffic is unbearable in high season--takes forever to get to the Captiva side of the island.
