Great history.

Enjoyed the beach around the light house and just learning the history of Sanibel. Sanibel does a wonderful job keeping the environment of the island as natural as possible.

It's an old lighthouse that surprisingly still runs! If you are on Fort Myers beach around sunset, you can see the light from the lighthouse. It's nice to stop by if you're on Sanibel, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

Nice but time spent at other beach better time spent. If your like us and your time is limited, its better spent at one of the nicer beaches.

Took a picnic lunch with friends and headed to Sanibel from Lehigh Acres. Twas a Sunday so lots of other folks had the same idea. Parking was a pain, but worth it! Laid back atmosphere on the beach. Kids, dogs, boats, warm water, loads of lovely ladies sunbathing.... (Hey, I'm an old guy, but still enjoy looking!). Covered picnic tables... More

We love lighthouses so we were anxious to see this one. Not your "typical" lighthouse. Unfortunately, you can't climb it or go into the keeper's house but we still enjoyed it. There's no fee to see it but you do have to pay for parking to access the beach, lighthouse and fishing pier. Parking can be a bit difficult to... More

Get there early for a parking spot...during the season it's a nightmare...summer too. Beyond the lighthouse, this is a great spot for shelling AND boat watching. The beach is beautiful. Worth getting up early for.

Go here 1 hour after low tide and you won't be disappointed!! Best shelling I have ever seen!! It's a nice bike ride right on the bike trails. If driving a car, you do need to pay to park. It's against the law to take shells with critters in them, so check carefully. Rest rooms and showers at the park.

Although we had a quick glimpse of the lighthouse as we crossed the causeway on our way onto the island, we couldn't quite determine its size or stature. What a huge disappointment when we visited the lighthouse grounds. It's just a large metal structure with a light on top! Not a light"house" at all!!!!

Taking the caseway from Ft Myers to Sanibel Island transformed us to another world . We seek out lighthouses for their historical signifance. We are always rewarded with the interesting and scenic views they come with. Dolphins swam just feet away from the shore. Shells were abundant. We enjoyed our time there very much.
