This beach is gorgeous! It has clean facilities if need, It does cost $2.00 an hour to park so be prepared. The shelling is ok but I found it better on the causeway. It may have just been the time of year. There is drift wood and the lighthouse, a fishing pier and a large beach to walk...enjoy!

Such a beautiful place for couples to relax and enjoy some sun on the sandy beach. The sunset is breathtaking!

We chose Sanibel Island for our family vacation beach day for the shelling opportunity. With 6 children in tow, this was a no - brainer. It is quite a drive from Orlando, but worth the trip. The water was warm and calm, the kids were impressed with how far out from shore they could go, and the shells. Let me... More

The actual lighthouse is disappointing but nice little walk from the parking lot. The actual beach is pretty nice but I'm from Florida so it didn't stand out as something special.

our daily walk ended at the lighthouse where there is a fishing dock , restrooms, etc.. Nice beach area, plenty of great shelling. Saw a huge sea turtle on the beach!

Sanibel Island is AMAZING! I went to the lighthouse beach and it was so beautiful. If you are a shell collector there are tons of tiny little shells along the beach! The sand is soft and the water is clear. The waves are mild so perfect for little ones, the water is also quite shallow even when you walk out... More

There really isn't anything to the lighthouse. There is a pretty large parking lot but it is a pay lot. Come early to get a spot and pay at a kiosk. The beach down on this end is really nice but not very wide at all and if it high tide, it's even smaller. Come early to claim your spot... More

I found Sanibel island unexpectedly in a trip to fort Myers. I didn't realize it was that close. I didn't have a lot of free time as I was on business so I drove to the first spot I could find after the causeway. The beach was beautiful and had tons of shells. Water was incredibly warm and clear. Only... More

Besides the metallic structure of the lighthouse --a little unimpressive, unlike some other lighthouses I've seen in my life, there is nothing else there. Perhaps there should be some type of kiosk or small information office with historical accounts of the lighthouse and its construction...

The lighthouse was very interesting and the beach was beautiful. We looked up when low tide was so that we could really enjoy looking for and finding shells. There are restrooms and outside showers. However, the parking is 2.00 per hour and the parking lot is constantly busy. The parking meters do take credit cards. Definitely worth the time to... More
