Parking is a serious issue here, so if you're going to pay to park and circle for a space, plan on spending a little time. The lighthouse is interesting, all open steel. The beach is very nice, and shelling is great too, if you're there at the right time. Definitely worth checking out.

Lovely picturesque place with selection of beaches. Very busy at weekend so best to void as parking is restricted. Lighthouse was disappointing. A bit unimpressive. As tourists from UK we didn't have necessary equipment for a day out here. The locals unpack the pick ups with chairs, parasols, pagodas, hampers, fishing tackle etc. You definitely need more than a towel... More

I remember Sanibel before it was so popular with visitors. To keep this in perspective, my impression of this park today isn't the same as it was just a mere 30 years ago. This beach park is near the bridge, and it gets too crowded. Parking is a challenge but helps with crowd control by discouraging visitors. If this is... More

Lots and lots of sea shells, perfect for taking small kids, they will enjoy collecting shells. The water was a bit rough, but overall nice and warm. I loved the light house, it takes you back in time. There is also a fishing pier and other activities.

This is the most awesome place for those "Kodak Moments". The old iron lighthouse in it's self is amazing. But then you add the giant chunks of driftwood and beautiful colors of the sky and ocean...well what more could a photo buff ask for?

Sanibel Island Lighthouse is a "skelton style" lighthouse built in 1884, and it's the first lighthouse on the Gulf Coast north of the Florida Keys. The lighthouse oversees the entrance to San Carlos Bay and while the lighthouse itself is not open to the public, you can stand right next to the tower and the buildings. It's a fascinating look... Yep...it is the old lighthouse that has saved thousands of ships from crashing a shore. Nothing fancy, but a great walk on the beach to see an old gem that signaled many a sea travelers.

I was surprised that this lighthouse looked the way it did. It was ?steel? with no housing. It must be a modern one. We went after it was closed but there was really not much to see. Interesting because of architecture. Probably a great place to see the sunset. But we didn't stay that long.

Beautiful old Florida feel. The skeletonized spire is a sight to see. There is no parking at the lighthouse itself, so you pay to park and take a little walk to it.
