Once you leave the mainland and cross the bridge to Sanibel you can't help to feel lighter and brighter. (Ok, you do have to pay a $6 toll for this feeling...) You get on the island and you move as fast as traffic allows, but its worth it...You get to the light house and you are surrounded by nice tropical... More

Love visiting every year when we go down there. Beach is nice with lots of shells and great views! Parking is ample and the area is kept very clean.

Bike paths lead all the way up to the lighthouse and it is really cool to see it at night from the beach.

Popular so a little crowded. Great views of Ft Myers and Naples(?). Saw a porpoise. Rest rooms far from parking lot. Lighthouse was closed so didn't get in.

The lighthouse is a great stop-off point when you're out for a long bike ride on Sanibel's bike path or when you're cruising up and down the beach! You can get pretty close to it and read about the history, though you aren't able to go inside. There's a nice picnic area sheltered in the mangroves between the lighthouse and... More

The lighthouse is nothing spectacular- although it is featured on most of the promotional materials for the island- so it is iconic and worth a visit. The best thing here is the beach. The parking can be tight during peak season and costs 3$/hour on the automated machine- either by credit card or exact change- NO change given! The beach... More

We were here over Christmas and it was so nice to see the light house decked out decorations. We lived at a condo just a 35 minute walk back down the beach.

As long as you're on Sanibel, visit the lighthouse that is pictured on so much of the Island's promotional material. The lighthouse itself is not a big deal, but the surrounding beach is wonderful -- wide, white, full of little shore birds, with great views to the south and west of fishing birds such as pelicans, terns and ospreys. You... More

I thought the history of the lighthouse was interesting--the lighthouse dates back to the 1800's The fishing pier nearby was fun to see--lots of herons and other birds begging for fish from fishermen there. Great close up pictures.

This is worth the ride to visit. Also, read the plaque on the lighthouse itself. When you go to the Lighthouse also walk on the beach where you may be able to see Dolphins as we did, there must have been six of them playing in the water almost putting on a show for us. The area is clean and... More
