We basically made a u-turn at the lighthouse. Like others here, we found it disappointing as we were expecting a more charming typical red and white building. However, it was nice to venture to that part of the island since it gave us a chance to shell seek at yet another nearby beach. So, next time we might not go... More

We visited many locations on Sanibel Island and enjoyed all the beauty from the Lighthouse to Blind Pass beach. The only complaint I have is the cost at the toll to get to the island and then the $3 per hour parking cost everywhere you go. There is no free parking if you are visiting the island. It was very... I didn't spend much time here. I am drawn to lighthouses and make it a point to visit them when I'm in the neighborhood. I was on the island, so I stopped by to see, and hopefully climb, this lighthouse. But alas, this lighthouse was not open to the public. And it wasn't much to look at from nearby.

When you walk up to the lighthouse it is beautiful. The grounds are well kept and have clean accessible restrooms.

We were spending the day at Sanibel, our first visit. We had seen the lighthouse from a distance, and figured it would be interesting to see up close. Nooooo, not really. Now we can say we saw it, but since you can't go in it, our trek was very disappointing. Not attractive at all compared to other east coast lighthouses,... More

This lighthouse is a little hard to find and if you need a stamp on your lighthouse passport you have to get it at the visitors center as you enter the island great to see but can't visit the inside Great place to shell on this beach too

My kids ended up being disappointed that they couldn't go in or up the actual lighthouse. You can only really just look at it. Once we got down to the beach, it was fun to see the fishing pier and to be able to look back over the causeway to Ft. Meyers. But at that point, we could have just... More

Well worth the steep parking fee of $3 per hour to take a walk around the tip of the island and view this beauty up close. Sanibel is special and the lighthouse is definitely part of the charm.

Every morning as we walked by, the osprey were perched on the top of the lighthouse just watching and waiting for the fish.
