Very crowded, must pay to park - even for 15 minutes, must pay for an hour ($3.00) - much better beaches/places to visit on the island for free.

This is not your typical lighthouse, but an interesting one to visit . . . good beach and shelling area, fishing pier nearby, nice new bathroom facilities . . . you must pay for parking unless you have a handicap permit then free parking. Great picture location.

It does sound interesting and having traveled from the UK, a lighthouse always sounds interesting. I was a little disappointed with what I got to see. If you are expecting a traditional lighthouse, dont visit.

Beautiful beach. Dolphins swimming near to the beach. 3 dollars an hour to park. Plus the toll to get over the bridge. Well worth a visit. Good idea to get there early as parking is limited.

The marine biologist at the Shell Museum recommended we go shelling at the lighthouse during low tide. We arrived, and a storm kicked up so we didn't stay to pay the $3 parking fee. We saw a beautiful osprey nest. The lighthouse was not as grand as I'm used to. We will return under better weather conditions for shelling. Safety... More

One of the best historical sites in the U.S. and a preserved landmark on east end of Sanibel Island near the fishing pier. This faces the causeway and is part of the public beach area where the public can hang on the beach or fish from the pier. One of a kind.

It seemed most people who went out by the lighthouse were there for the beach/park more than the actual lighthouse which was pretty but not much to see. But there is a park with grills and bathrooms so going over for the day seems like a nice plan. One interesting thing was that they used the lighthouse to look for... More

good parking if you get there early in the morning. Something for everyone, beach walking, boardwalks through the woods, and of course the iconic lighthouse. Neat Osprey nest, fishing pier, and walking on the Gulfside of Sanibel or the San Carlos Bay side- good birdlife, great photo-ops.

Always worth a visit to this part of the island where you have a beach on the gulfvand also on the sound towards the mainland. The beach is stunning and well managed. Over the last 15 yearsnof visiting Sanibel, the lighthouse area is now very well maintained with good facilities and very suitable to staying for a period of time,... More
