What a great little town to walk around. Brick paved streets, lots of unique shops and a scenic waterfront. We personally found a less well traveled restaurant; the Corner Cafe that offered a less touristy experience and then found a "dive bar:", the Alley which featured some great live music for what appeared to be mostly a local middle aged... This is an area to walk and relax. The scenery varies enough to make it interesting. There are swings for those who want to sit around and view things or rest up. There are different types of food places/restaurant in the historic area that allows you wonderful variety.

We went first thing in the morning (0830) and apart from a number of joggers along the water it was shut! But that wasn't a problem because we got to see the whole place in 90 minutes without visiting any shop or restaurant. Great to walk along the waters edge and sit on the rocking chairs. We then moved onto... More

Historical in a Florida way.. Defined as not too very old in, a New England way, but for Florida quite a History. Situated on the St. John's River's Lake Munroe, this is as old as it get's in Florida. Perfect for a nice lunch or dinner and a pleasant stroll through quite a few Antique shops and a variety of... When I came to Central Florida in 2010, I decided to live close to my job--which meant anywhere from Maitland to Sanford. I fell in love with Sanford's funky downtown and ended up buying a house here for that reason. The downtown area is on the waterfront with one-of-a-kind stores, art galleries, and restaurants. It's dog-friendly--a requirement for me!--and the... More

Downtown Sanford is a sweet little town. We drove through there just to see what's happening. They have a great park on the Lake Monroe with a splash pad and play equipment for the kids. Pavilions are around and it makes a great place for a family gathering. The Rivership Romance leaves from the marina and gives a sight seeing... More

Generally Florida is not good at revitalizing downtowns e g Titusville, but Sanford have done a classy job. The roads are sensibly cobbled (unlike say Orlando) and there is a good range of pubs/bars/restaurants with live music. Also felt safe without having all the uniformed bullies around

There are a wide variety of shops including antique, art galleries and bookstores. Quite a few restaurants offer outside seating and a few have live entertainment. Saturday offers a farmer's market in the square and there is an excellent German deli just off the square. A browser's delight awaits in the bookstores, antique/vintage shops and art galleries. Several bars serve... More

Having flown in and out of Sanford many times, twice this year we have stayed a couple of days in the area. It's lovely and there's lots to see. The small downtown area has a few shops and restaurants. We enjoyed a lovely walk on the riverside and marina area and had a super dinner cruise on the paddle steamer... More

Sanford, FL has a nice downtown with brick streets, restaurants and many shops. Once a month on Thursdays is Alive After 5, where local business set up on 1st Street and you can sample local cuisine. One Saturday a month they also have the Food Trucks downtown, which is a big hit. Magnolia Square has a Farmer's Market every Saturday... More
