Generally Florida is not good at revitalizing downtowns e g Titusville, but Sanford have done a classy job. The roads are sensibly cobbled (unlike say Orlando) and there is a good range of pubs/bars/restaurants with live music. Also felt safe without having all the uniformed bullies around

There are a wide variety of shops including antique, art galleries and bookstores. Quite a few restaurants offer outside seating and a few have live entertainment. Saturday offers a farmer's market in the square and there is an excellent German deli just off the square. A browser's delight awaits in the bookstores, antique/vintage shops and art galleries. Several bars serve... More

Having flown in and out of Sanford many times, twice this year we have stayed a couple of days in the area. It's lovely and there's lots to see. The small downtown area has a few shops and restaurants. We enjoyed a lovely walk on the riverside and marina area and had a super dinner cruise on the paddle steamer... More

One Saturday a month they also have the Food Trucks downtown, which is a big hit. Magnolia Square has a Farmer's Market every Saturday... More

Downtown has the potential to improve a lot - for a Saturday afternoon there wasn't a lot to do - but what is there and open is interesting and fun.

The people were friendly and my hotel was convenient to shopping, restaurants, and several tourist attractions. The staff and food at the Cracker Barrel was excellent. I was made to feel welcome in Sanford, FL.

1st Street is a quaint little strip of shops and restaurants, anchored by the Willow Tree Cafe, we usually hit up this area after a nice morning walk along the waterfront with our young daughter. I still can't believe it took me 6 years to get out there and appreciate what a nice area it is.

Nice brick streets through part of town. A nice central plaza with a fountain. Several good shops, cafes and restaurants along the stretch.
