Florida terminus of the Amtrack Autotrain, Sanford turned out to be not just a neat little town, but a community with an interesting history. While waiting for the train, we took the free shuttle into town, had lunch, checked out a great co-op art gallery and learned the history of this community at their visitor center/ community museum. All in... More

Sanford has done a lot with rebuilding the historic downtown. There's all kinds of activities and places to see. Some nice little restaurant's and antiques stores. Only a short walking distance to the park along Lake Monroe. Very well kept. Stop there a lot and just relax on one of the park benches.

Quaint small-town downtown feel that is pedestrian friendly with many good cafes and eating options. The adjacent boardwalk is also excellent, with a paved walk/bike path and ample swings and benches. Plentiful parking also makes it easy to explore.

We only had time to drive through, but will definitely be going back to walk and enjoy this quaint historic town. Beautiful large lake and park area.

Very nice taking a stroll along the boardwalk, looking at the lake and all the boats at the marina. Nice and clean with plenty of benches to sit and relax. I enjoyed it very much, it has a good relaxed vibe.

We wandered into this area not expecting to find the mix of old and new.....You have cafes and shops that will be of interest to young and old. We always like to see the older buildings and happy when towns restore areas to make them usable with traffic patterns that allows you to drive slow and feel good walking too.... More

What a gem. We have often passed through Sandford on way to airport but this time we detoured in to the town ,straight of a TV program you, do think antique shops ,cafe, s hair dressers and cobbled streets . A nice place to stroll and step back in time.

Had a drive through the historic area which basically means town centre. Lots of independent little shops, no chain shops or restaurants in sight. Nice paved road to drive on. Lots of parking. Lovely little area with a huge lake and plenty of green spaces .

We stopped into Nifty Thrifty thrift shop and right next door to it the Breezeway for lunch. It was kind of chilly and windy so we didn't walk around much but there were several other thrift shops I would have liked to check out.
