I visited today. They were doing a lot of construction. I didn't see as many animals as I thought I would. The place was clean and animals well cared for. I was a little disappointed about the quantity of animals to see. Some of the amenities were dated. Overall I thought it was a bit expensive for what I got,... More

It was cold the day we visited,so some of the animals were inside staying warm. There is a very nice variety of animals at this zoo. We enjoyed the tropical birds, monkeys and the giraffes. All the plants are labeled and in season it must be fabulous!! The staff were very nice and helpful. A very nice zoo.

They had lots of animals. It was small. The cages was very small for the animals. I thought the food was okay. Very friendly staff. Winter is the best time to go.

We visited the Central Florida Zoo today. While I do not like seeing animals confined, I can say they looked as though they were well taken care of. The staff was friendly and informative. It was a little cool today and many of the animals were trying to hide from the cooler weather. There were only a few that we... More

Central Florida Zoo needs to be updated with a HUGE emphasis on space--space for animals. It was pathetic to see majestic animals in small cages. Stimulation for the animals also appeared poor. It truly reminded me of a trip to the SPCA where soulful animals stare and silently beg: Take Me! Only you cannot free the animals at the zoo..

Was a good time for the whole family. Nice smaller zoo and the animals look well taken care of. The entire staff were very friendly. The rhino exhibit was very cool as we were 8' from these 1.5 ton animals. My kids feed the giraffes by hand which was awesome as well! If your looking to avoid huge crowds and... More

eat before you get there...but they do sell beer! We were able to get within about 3 feet of the rhinos. they were eating bushes that were just outside of their pen. hilarious and so cool! also, our son got to feed a giraffe (for $5 or $10, I forget how much). some of the facilities are kind of run... Thanks for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your visit and your son got to feed the giraffes. Next time, sign up for the rhino encounter (nominal fee) where you get to go behind the scenes and touch and scratch the rhinos. It's amazing to feel how thick their skin is. It really is like the armor it looks like. More

The Sanford Zoo, while small, has beautifully clean habitats, good educational opportunities, and a great little splash park for the younger set. The serpent exhibit is awesome - there are many varieties and they are nearly always visible. My favorite part are that there are alligators living in a natural habitat that can be viewed up close quite safely. The... More

Thank you for your review. We value all feedback. We're sorry you were disappointed. Our Zoo sits on 114 acres of which 21 are developed for the Zoo. The additional acres are protected wetlands which creates a great backdrop for the Zoo. We do house several animals, all of which can be read about on our website. But you are... More

This is a great zoo for the kids and adults alike. If you are in the Central Florida area (Sanford) don't miss an opportunity to see the zoo and help keep it open and available for generations to come.

Thank you for the review and plea for others to come help support us. We love our little not-for-profit Zoo and are funded by our guests and fundraisers. And we don't plan to go anywhere---matter of fact, we are getting ready to celebrate our 40th Anniversary (at our current site) in 2015. Hope to see you again soon. More
