We live close to Fort Desoto and enjoy all that it has to offer year round. Loads of parking with nice long stretches of beaches for swimming, walking, and shelling. A concrete path allows for comfortable and safe bicycling, skating, walking & running; bicycles, pedal carts, canoes, & kayaks are available for rent. Great area for birdwatching; an occasional manatee... More

The beach is very beautiful and even though lots of people very peaceful and relaxing.Great area to hold a party for a large group with the covetred shelters, park rangers are very helpful. Lots of parking and a beautiful sunset. Only a $5.00 entrance fee with lots of things to do.

Taking out a kayak or canoe is a must here. No alligators but plenty of manatees this time of year. They are friendly. Although we are not allowed to interact with them, they interacted with us by gently pushing our kayaks around and surfacing next to us. Great fun for all. The kayak rental informed us where we could find... More

This beach is a beautiful area to enjoy peace and serenity. There was a cost of $5.00 to get in the park. There is ample parking, you can rent a canoe, a bike or just set up a tent, picnic, grill and swim. There is also a snack and souvenir store. Walking further down the beach brings you to some... The most beautiful beaches, playgrounds, fishing, boating, camping, etc. with plenty of parking. Campsites get very busy so one must make reservations if you will need space for an RV or tent accommodations.

get in touch with Pinellas Kayak Rentals and get a kayak delivered to the campsite... what an experience to have the kayak for two days straight whenever we wanted. Great maps and other laminated instruction sheets to know what you are looking at. Great!!

We really liked it here. Lovely beaches, picnic areas & lots of wildlife. The best bit was standing on one of the piers watching people fishing. They were just catching fish after fish ! Spent a few hours just amazed at how many different types of fish we saw, including a fairly big shark. Great place for children as there... More

Staying in Tierra Verde, naturally we came down to Fort Desoto Park to hit the beach! Just wonderful. So clean, easily accessible, beautiful sand, clean water, clean bathrooms, lots of shells to pick up and visits from crabs popping up to check on us!! The seagulls were aggressive. When we pulled out some cheese as a snack, one of them... More

It's been voted America's #1 beach for good reason: it's a large park with natural beaches. Very popular with locals - plan on bringing your own beach gear. Alcohol is technically not allowed, but I have seen many people imbibe without being hassled. Bikes and kayaks are for rent; campground on the grounds; great picnic areas; historic fort that dates...
