The St. Petersburg Pier closed a year ago, so the aquarium is no longer there, nor are the shops. But the area around the Pier building is still open to visitors, and is well worth the walk from the nearby parking lots (maybe 1/4 mile) to see people fishing, pelicans flying and diving for food, and all the boats going... Well since the pier is going to be demolished and rebuilt it would not be a good idea to go on the pier...? Not really sure why trip advisor is so far behind? FL aquarium in Tampa is good and clearwater marine science center is OK.

They will be renovating this area within the next few years. City and residents cannot decide on what should be at the end of the Pier. (Same inverted pyramid, or a new design). The pier is unsafe for the amount of traffic it attracts and some type of renovation must be done.

Sadly, this location is now closed, but I hope that they come back and come back stronger and bigger than before. While open it was a little small and a bit pricey. They also offered summer camps for all ages of children.

Please note that the St. Pete Pier is closed and so is this attraction. Don't know if it has reopened elsewhere. Suggest to go to the Clearwater Marine Museum where you can see Winter the dolphin.

In it's day, this was a great exhibit, but it's closed now and demolition of our iconic pier has begun...stay tuned for the new pier design.

The aquarium is closed and supposed to move to Johns Pass. The pier is closed permanently. The city of Saint Petersburg has made a real mess of the this facility. Not sure what happens next but skip your visit to the pier and the aquarium as they no longer exist as open facilities.

The old Pier is now closed for demolition. The City commissioned a study and competition for architects to submit designs for a new pier. A design was selected by jury and money was earmarked for construction. Then at the last minute, a bunch of "traditionalists" got involved and forced the whole thing to a vote. The new Pier design was... More
