And I found some really great shells. The shuttle folks explained a lot about the area and wildlife and gave advice about the best places to look. It was really helpful that they loaned us an umbrella and snorkeling gear. I'd like to go back again. More

Quick boat trip to shell island. Shelling is ok. Our second time and still haven't found large shells. This trip dolphins surfaced near boat & captain stopped for a while to let us watch. Not a bad deal. More

But it is rather costly! Especially when you are taking a few children...plus, you are stuck on the island for a minimum of 2 hours! Not good if it gets too hot, storms, or kids get cranky! More

No need to worry about storms. We watch the radar very carefully and if there is any chance of storms we tell our guests to return to the pick up spot immediately and we'll be there to take them back to the dock. I have used the Shell Key Shuttle to visit Shell Key for 15 years and find tons of beautiful shells on each trip. April 28th was the best ever! A quick 10 minute shuttle ride from Pass-a-Grille (accompanied by dolphins chasing the boat) takes you to Shell Key. There are no buildings and no services - just a beautiful beach covered with shells & shore birds. Very relaxing. More

Once on board thh captain talked to the people next to him almost the entire ride. I was told they tell you some history and point some things out? Sorry you weren't able to hear the on board briefing we give on the way to the island. The visitors guide we hand out to each of our passengers is another great source of information and has a detailed map of the island inside which we go over with everyone before we drop off on the island. We went on the 10:00 am cruise after forking out more than 55.00 for two people. We saw two sand dollars, no other shells except crushed ones, and believe me you can do just as well or better by staying at your regular beach in Florida. $100 for a family of 4, NO shells to be found, 8 minute ride from the pier and 5 families at a time....they should tell you 'there's NO shells on the beach, but here's a little boat trip anyway'...it's a bird sanctuary where people can go around on the beach to 'shell'...either they're crushed by the surf or taken BEFORE...
