My daughter and I are down visiting the area of St Pete's Beach for a destination wedding area. She mentioned we should try this. I really enjoyed it. And will do this again on any future visits. Look up the website for directions. Easy short drive from hotels on St. Pete's.(or check out the trolley shuttle for times to Pass... More

Great boat trip over to the preserve. Found a large number of shells, some very large ones. Found sand dollars and large conchs (unfortunately with habitants inside) that we are not allowed to bring back.

They were short staffed and a bit unorganized but don't let that keep you from taking the trip. Ten minute boat ride to search for sand dollars.

Glad you enjoyed the trip to Shell Key. You visited us during Spring Break which is always a little hectic. Sorry you felt that we were short staffed and disorganized. We have had extra staff working every day during spring break to accommodate the large number of visitors. Hope to see you again during a less busy time of year. More

....but we couldn't get there two days in a row. The first day they ran just the first ferry, and did "maintenance" the rest of the day. The maintenance work must have not been that great because the boat blew an engine the next morning. WHAT A JOKE.

We hauled our boat out of the water for scheduled routine maintenance on Wednesday morning after the 12:15 pick up. All of our advertising suggests that you should call to confirm as our schedule may vary. Anyone who did call us for several days before Wednesday was told that we were only offering one trip over and one trip back... More

45 minutes to find a parking spot and $25/person for the 10 minute ride to the Island was not the best start, but overall we had a great time wandering the shallow waters looking for the best shell ever. Sun umbrella and snorkeling gear were offered, The umbrella was a must as the island has no natural shade. Snorkeling was... More

Our price includes the use of a beach umbrella, mask and snorkel and a shell bag. Children 12 and under are 1/2 price and kids 2 and under go for free. Spring break is a very busy time at all the beaches so if we speak to you by phone we let you know that the parking will be challenging... More

Wonderful day on our own private island! While my husband and sons went on miss pass-a-grille fishing charter my daughter and I hit the beach. This boat leaves from the same doc the fishing boat did, so it worked out well. The $25(kids half price) fee is well worth it!!! 50 people were on our charter over, but once you... More

We really enjoyed finding sand dollars, but next time would take the free masks so we could dive for them. So so many shells! We wish we planned to be there all day and would have brought over a lunch and more beach equipment. A little pricey short ride but if you love shells - do it!

I came across the recommendation to take the day trip to Shell Key on Trip Advisor - so glad we did! This is a really special place and so close to all the hotels and other things in St. Pete. As a novice, this is what I wish we had known beforehand - for kids, bring sand toys and sifters... More

The trip was fun. 3 hours would have been plenty but stayed for 4 hours. Found plenty of sand dollars and saw sting rays swimming close to beach.

Kids loved exploring the shoreline and collecting shells. So glad our family and the hotel staff said this was a must do activity while in the area. Two hours is enough time on the island with small kids (i.e. under 6)
