If you would like to collect shells on a beautiful bird preservation island, the only way to get there is by boat or The Shell Key Shuttle. The owners of the Shell Key Shuttle were very helpful and the service they provide was worth the price. They provide netted bags, snorkel, goggles, etc., for your shell collecting pleasure. Shell Key... More

We had a very nice time going to Shell Key as there were lots of shells to collect. Merry pier provides for sun umbrellas and gives some advice concerning shell collection. We had great swims in Shell Key.

It's a quick shuttle ride over to the Island and then you are off to shell collecting, playing in the surf or just hanging on the beach. There are tons of shells to gather up of every kind, not just the little ones you find on most the beaches but some of the big guys they sell at the stores,... More

A great way to get off the beaten path and do something that kids and adults will both enjoy. Great shells and sand dollars to be found as well as the occasional manatee swimming by. Pack sunscreen, hats, water, etc. This was our second year with these folks and we'll do it again next year.

Ok sunburn my fault, not enough sunscreen in over 90' weather. For only $25 each they take you it island and leave you there for 2-4 hours.they provide snorkel stuff and shell bags. We had a ball but the best was while I was wading a manatee went by me within spitting distance ,my husband jumped in and patted the creature.WOW.... More

my daughter (6) and i were trekked down from st. pete beach and it was well worth the trip. after a short boat ride to shell key, we explored the island and found some amazing shells - the further out you trek, the better the shells! take some drinks and snacks with you...

A warm welcome in the shop, downhill from there. The couple running it have lost their mojo, rules regulations and orders about snorkels and umbrellas. Woe betide anyone who separates snorkel from mask, we didn't fortunately but the poor family who did were treated to an underhand dosing of sarcasm. All you get for your $25 per person is a... More

Our roundtrip fare includes the use of mask and snorkel (or mask only if that is the customer's preference), beach umbrella for each group and a mesh bag for shells. We give a briefing at the dock and hand out a visitors guide to each group that has a lot of great information about the preserve along with a detailed... More

My friend and I took the 10am shuttle to the island and spent the next 4 hours walking the shores exploring. The water was a little cloudy and very choppy our vacation week so finding shells while snorkeling was not easy but there were still plenty of shells on the shore to collect. The further you walk away from the... More

I was impressed with the value on our trip. We saw other excursions stop that did not equip their passengers as well. We were given a diving flag for safety, told how to shuffle our feet in the water ("stingray shuffle"), offered sunscreen, equipped with great beach umbrellas and a shovel, and our shell bags were big and could be...
