Our schedule only permitted a drive to Sugar Hill Beach and several stops for photos. Abundant bird life, interesting high dunes covered with plenty of Fall color, spectacular white powder beaches (empty except for shells), beautiful vistas across coves to the mainland, photo ops at every turn. Did not check out any facilities but our host said they were excellent... More

This island has been our family favorite for many years. Don't except the golf courses, malls, and high rise hotels. Off the beaten path of FL is miles of peace and quiet, white sand and birds.

We basically drove the park then got out at the beach area, took pictures and just enjoyed the peaceful area. We were there off season so we had the beach to ourselves.

An absoute remarkable undisturbed piece of nature. Several parking and beach access points available. Public restrooms and showers are available in two locations. The restricted area to the East end of the park is well worth getting into. The park has the best shelling on the island.

We went during the week and the beaches and trails were almost to ourselves. The area by the first boat ramp is the best for great birding

We spent an entire afternoon on the sugar hill beach at St George Island State Park. What a beautiful place! it was in October, so we had much of the beach too ourselves. They also have very clean restroom/changing facilities and picnic areas with grills. The next time we visit here, we will be taking burgers to cook. Dave and... More

Beautiful remote and rugged State park. So glad the State keeps it up so well and the continued building of large homes stops somewhere on this great island.

It was a really beautiful park. Serene and clean. Nice quiet beach for long peaceful walk. A real gem!

I went to Apalachicola and St George Island because I DID NOT want the crowds, traffic, and high prices of the Pensacola-Panama City panhandle with all the over crowding and limited beach access. All of St George Island is wonderful, easy beach access, but especially St George Island State Park. The cost to enter is $6 per day for a... More

Went to the island on a last minute camping trip. The campsites have minimal shade and not very tent friendly. Did I mention it was hot? Did also mention that there is no AC in the bathrooms? Also, the mosquitoes are Gravenous and travel in swarms. Worst I have ever seen. On a bright note, the Rangers were very nice!!... More
