My wife and I visited this museum on 3-16-15. The museum is three rooms, a small outdoor garden and a small gift shop. The guided tour could take 10-20 minutes depending on the number of questions the group asks. The tour is informativ about Spanish military medicine (way more advanced than corresponding English practices) and some direct and unflinching talk... More

Gory but accurate. A very good tour by cindy. The times were tough. I left with a much better appreciation for the moors and their science. The soaps at the gift shop also left with me. Thanks for a lovely stop

We had a great tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and it was interesting from ER nurses point of view

Presentation of different surgeries and the instruments that were used was very gruesome. The guide talked with glee about amputations and spurting blood. I would not recommend for children or easily squeamish. Presentation on herbs and natural remedies was more enjoyable.

This is a small museum that gives you a good picture of what it was to be an injured or sick Spanish soldier in the late 1700s. Lots of medical instruments on display, a replica of a ward plus the dying room, and docents prepared to give great detail on how things were done. Much of the practices were more... More

If you're fascinated by history and medicine, this is the tour for you! Incredibly informative and the tour guide was hilarious! She was a mature woman but I did not get her name, sadly. It isn't for the faint of heart but it IS an old hospital museum... It should be common sense that it may have some elements adults... More

Went with a 4th grade class as a chaperone and the 'Nick' the museum guide was absolutely horrible!! He gave lots of information most of which no one could understand because he spoke so fast. He was extremely rude and impatient when a child would raise their hand to ask a question. One child got nervous as Nick was rushing... More

This was another attraction for those interested in the Spanish era culture and history of Saint Augustine. The guided museum tour takes about 45 minutes and covers the history and techniques of early Spanish medicine which was quite advanced for the time. It needed to be since the tropical area had more than its share of health challenges. We found the... More

Great tour, lots of info, personable guide. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Guide is definitely not from the south. His deliver is non-stop and very fast. Still, he gives a huge amount of interesting info in a short time. There are also several hands on demonstrations. Great short tour.
