I visited the Spanish Military Hospital with my husband, doing a "dry run" for the field trip I'll be taking with my World History students in November. They're going to love the hospital, with the surgical instruments, the "gore" and the info on colonial medicine. I'm glad someone clued me in on this place. In previous years we've done the... More

Just a small place that you might overlook during your visit with so many things to do in St. Augustine. It is on Aviles St. and lots of fun. You'll be amazed at the recovery rate of the Spanish Hospital.

Small entry fee but we would have paid twice the price. One of the most informative and educational places I have been in recent years. Guides really know their stuff. Lots of fun.

The Hospital tour is remarkable in that it informs and entertains. Showing practical medical techniques and medicines of the 17th and 18 centuries, the guide was most impressive and yet fun. We saw several sites in St Augustine, but this was our favorite, and should be enjoyable for all ages.

This little spot is not big or glamorous. The tour guide is the one who made it worthwhile. She knew a lot about the subject. Lots of interesting bits & pieces showing how medicine was practiced years ago, how care and surgery took place during the Civil War, and how today's herbs were the same ones used back then (shows... We found this on Aviles, the oldest street on Saint Augustine, off the beaten path. We learned quite a lot from the "olden days" medicine. Would recommend this for anyone who likes the historical portion of Saint Augustine.

To be fair, I'm in the medical field before I start raving. First off, our tour started immediately with no private. Like a private your. Air conditioned. Our male guide (can't remember his name but he had a handlebar mustache) was very knowledgable, interesting and informative. I found it fascinating. At first, the recitation seemed rapid and too rehearsed, BUT... More

I was glad I paid the discounted price of $5 through the Old Town Trolley ticket booth. I would have been disappointed if I had paid full price. (To be fair, medicine is not my area of interest.) The mourning room and hospital rooms were neat, and it was great that the tour guide started immediately (in effect giving me... More

Loved this tour. If your are in the medical field, you will find this very interesting. My 19 yo kids really enjoyed it. You sit down for most of the tour, so it's a nice break.

This place was so cool. The trip is like 40 minutes long, but it's really cool for those who are curious about the way things were done in the past. There is so much to learn and see inside. It's not a bad price! 7.00 for adults! Compared to other places it's a wonderful price!!! I enjoyed it greatly! Especially... More
