The tour at this little museum was fascinating. The tour guide was knowledgeable about the arcane and interesting medical protocols of the long ago Spanish colony. I went to this with a friend who is a nurse. Ordinarily I am not into medical stuff but I was glad I attended. I had no idea that the doctors of that time... More

I can't believe how much I learned in 30 minutes. The tour is full of information, some of it that can make you uncomfortable is the idea of amputations without anesthetic makes you uneasy. Seriously, a fantastic tour that teaches about medical procedures and apothecary of the past. Plus, some of the friendliest and most helpful people you will encounter... More

Having taken some college courses on the history of medicine I thought I knew essentially everything I would learn on this tour--but I was so wrong! To see how much more advanced the Spanish were than their American counterparts in the field of medicine was really and truly eye opening. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable and very friendly. She... More

Being in the medical field this was on my list of things to do. The guide was very well informed and seemed like she really knew what she was talking about rather than reading a script. It is crazy how far medicine has come. Some of the items really made me cringe.

This was very informative and interesting to see how brutal medical procedures were in the past. And very intriguing to see how the herbs used in the past are now associated with today's pharmaceuticals. Wished there was a little more to the tour since we paid $10 per person, and have a family of 5. Which got kind of expensive... More

Decided to drop by here on my latest visit due to a BOGO offer on Local Deals. Tour was interesting, and we had more then enough time to view the pre-show rooms before the tour. The pre-show rooms setup the rest of the tour, so be sure to read the clips on the wall! Some of the procedure explanations might... More

This was informative, the guide was good, but I guess I expected more. This is on the original Aviles St. which is the oldest street in the city. Dont pass it by, but it is what it is.

This little jem may get overlooked amongst the bigger historical sights in the old city. However, it turned out being the highlight of our three day trip to St. Augustine. The tour was so interesting and informative. It was fascinating learning how the Spanish practiced medicine and how much more advanced they were than their English contemporaries. Dawn was our... Wow. The woman who gave the demonstration was so knowledgeable we couldn't believe it! She was wonderful. It really doesn't take very long to go through this site but it is well worth the history of the time and life style concerning medical and health problems of the time periods.

Dawn was my guide and she was very knowledgeable about the history. She was friendly and encouraged questions. This is a quick but fun tour about how advanced the Spanish were in regards to care in the hospitals. I enjoyed looking at the old surgical instruments but cringed at some of them as well. I was amazed by how advanced... More
