So interesting!!

We went here as locals because our visitors from out of town expressed an interest. We are all in the medical field and found this tour to be our favorite that day!

This is history that you don't get to see much, how the wounded are treated. Even though this place goes back to the 1600's it doesn't seem to much different from the 1800's when the civil war was going on. For their ability they did a good job of taking care of their soldiers. The people who work here know... More

The staff presented great information and answered questions well. The lady was personable. It is interesting that much that was covered at the hospital was covered at the fort by a staff member there with more or as much equipment. The herb information was interesting, the herb garden is a joke. For the cost, would have hoped for more, would... More

This was a well designed tour. Be prepared to sit and be entertained on the various ways of a military hospital in Spanish Florida. The rooms are small, so they keep you still while they bring the demonstrations to you. You are allowed to look more closely at things you wish to see after the presentation. Very informative on medical... More

My mother visiting from out of state was very excited about touring the Spanish Military Hospital. Together we sat through the presentation and quickly became disappointed with the lack of professionalism and abundant crass humor the presenter portrayed. My mother and I have been medical professionals for numerous years and believe this tour would have been worthwhile if it were... More

My husband and I visited the military hospital museum this month after walking right past the building. Once inside, you feel like you stepped back in time. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and colorful. We learned so much. Don't miss this hidden gem.

Let me begin by saying I was surprised when it ended. Maybe 20 minutes, two rooms, a rushed script from the presenter, and I'm not sure what happened to the "surgical demonstrations". Some people here have written about "squeamish" moments. No . . . unless hearing a chisel being slapped against a counter as a rendition of a non-existent finger... More

This is a small, out of the way museum in the historic district of Saint Augustine. The tour guide was very good and knew her subject. There were a lot of medical instruments from the time period and a lot of information about how the Spanish practiced medicine at the time. It seems that the Spaniards were way ahead of... More

After seven surgeries in the past decade, I came away with a new appreciation for anesthesia—particularly Irish anesthesia☺ I had to constantly remind myself that medical treatment rendered centuries ago here did not hold the same level Spaniards had in Europe. This is a restoration of a military hospital. Think M*A*S*H, harsh triage conditions where only those likely to survive... More

I went to this museum with a friend of mine that is a doctor and I think he enjoyed himself - although I was kind of grossed out at times. It had some information, but not enough for the price of the tickets. We were only there for maybe 30 minutes - so that should tell you something.
