This was so much more than I expected! Cannot say enough wonderful things about this attraction. My kids had so much fun! They got to dress up, face paint, make candles, archeological dig, play games, and collect coins to trade in for prizes. It is an interactive museum for kids and I don't even think they realized how much they... More

This was fun. We got there about the time they fired the cannon. We also got to have our picture made with their military hats on. Everyone working there was dressed as the soldiers from that period dressed, and they acted the part also. I didn't know much about the place until I went. I'm glad I went!

Takes you back in time. We found it very interesting. The grounds around it are also lovely and well kept.

We had been to the big fort downtown, but never to Fort Menendez. It was pretty cool. The short boat trip out was nice, and although small, there was a lot of history to be found at the fort.

Built by Spanish to protect St. Augustine's back door from British and French pirates and navies while castelo protected the front door. Built of coquina. Canons etc. Wonderful vistas of river and bay.

National Parks week... and we got in free... we also found free parking that day!! (we bought a lotto ticket but the luck had run out!) The fort is pretty darn hot already.... alas the bathrooms are airconditioned, thank goodness! It was more fun doing it at night after a ghost tour and when it wasn't as hot.... but I... More

I really did not know much about the history of this fort and it is awesome to know about the early beginnings of our country.

The fort is the highlight of the whole St. Augustine National Park experience. A knowledgeable ranger givng a historical timeline, plus volunteers masquerading as Spanish soldiers demonstrating arms, uniforms and equipment made for an enjoyable experience. The fort itself is fun to explore.
