Better than I thought

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. Riley's collection was great but it was really nice to walk through the old castle and imagine what life was like back then

This museum has a magnificent dinosaur turd on display. It may be the most incredible thing I have ever seen. As I gazed at the turd through the glass I couldn't help but wonder what amazing creature delivered it to the world so many years ago. Thank you dinosaur for leaving the us your special treasure.

Ripley's has been around a long time and is always interesting to tour. Some of the exhibits are too scary for children, and those exhibits are made even more frightening to them by housing the exhibits in dark rooms with ominous artifacts and pictures. The museum was clean and well maintained, and there were warnings about the possibility of frightening... More

If you are looking for oddities and weirdness, you will find it here. Typical "Ripley's" - the building it is housed in is reportedly haunted and in fact they have a haunted tour of the building. Remarkable strangeness from around the world. A visit to St. Augustine just doesn't seem complete without a ghost tour and a visit to Ripley's.

I liked it, but thought it'd be more. It was typically touristy. It was definitely interesting, little corney but fun.

We went to Ripley's on a hot and humid Saturday and got in there right as it started pouring down rain. There was a line at the entrance ( the clerks were trying to get people to buy packages and upgrade their tickets to include the tour train as well) so that was kind of a bummer. We are local... My wife suggested we visit this place and like a good hubbie, I concurred. The place is on a large piece of property that is well kept. The cost was reasonable and it will take you about an hour to go through the three floors. There were some interesting displays especially where Mr. Ripley visited. There are both exhibits as... Ripley's had quite a few interesting artifacts. In addition to some very beautiful museum pieces ( jade dragon), the museum had too many tasteless and macabre torture devices and also shrunken heads!!!!!!! The Lightner Museum is a much better use of money. This was a real turnoff.

This is the original Ripley's and yes it's sort of schmaltzy, but it's a whole lot of fun. The building itself is historical and the architecture interesting. The contents range from mundane to bizarre and change often enough so a repeat visit from time to time is worthwhile. Even in these days of high tech attractions Ripley's should be on... More
