This little gem is well worth the time to drive over to Anastasia Island. All is free of charge and the National Park Service takes you across the river in a boat for your 30 minute tour of this small fort. We saw a pari of dolphins playing nearby!

Excellent historical tour of the tour. A short boat ride out to the island. Our tour guide told us the history of the fort on the way. She was there to answer any questions we had. And best of all, it was free!

We went here by mistake, following GPS and hoping to see the big fort at St. Augustine. I'm glad we made that mistake. There is a small visitors center where you can see a movie about the history of the fort. Then you can take a ferry out to the actual fort. There are guides there to answer questions and... More

We arrived late and missed the last ferry to the tiny fort. We were very glad that we did not just drove on. We took a leisure walk around the property and look at what we've found in the back of the visitor building!

Fun and basically free. Lots of history and nice little fairy ride. In the rest of the park there are some nice trails and a picnic area as well.

Be sure to get your free ferry ticket as soon as you get there, otherwise you could be left hanging around a while. It was definitely worth the trip. We learned a lot from the video and the guide at the fort.

Do not miss this attraction! I am so glad i went. It is about 20 minutes south of St Augustine and you'll think at first you are not headed to the right place, since the Internets say this is part of the St Augustine ancient fort defense system. But keep going... You have to take a boat to get to... More

We have been here twice to just go to the beach area of the Matanzas inlet beach area. Its one of the top two beaches in the whole area and it appears we aren't alone in thinking that as the parking lot was full. BUT this beach is so big it was not crowded at all... The beach was wide... More
