Great views. Good information boards and interesting to read about some of the characters who lived in St Augustine. Nice amount of shade indoors.

A nice educational side trip to this outpost. And cheap. Old Spanish outpost rebuilt by the park services. Your tax dollars at work so you may as well check it out. Goes nicely with the big fort in the bay.

Oncxe you enter the fort you can understand from above how well it was desined , and how the people that decided to build it took into account all aspects so as to defend the city from pirates or other invasions, that in the end caused the USA to buy Florida from Mexico A Nice attraction

Good little spot to see a piece of history.... It is all free to get into the park, parking and even the ferry boat across the river. That being said its definitely worth seeing. It is not as large as the Castillo in St. Augustine, but they do a good job here too! The little beach here is pretty nice... More

My husband and I went with my parents. It's free but we did make a donation. You take a short, relaxing boat ride to the fort. Fort is small but we received a lot of information from the man dressed as a soldier. The big highlight of the day were the dolphins who were feeding in front of the fort.

Given that we found little scenery along the barrier islands while driving Route A1A, we stopped to visit Fort Matanzas on the way to Melbourne. The ferry was not in service that day, but you could see the fort from the ferry landing, as well as the channel it once guarded. There are nature walks on the land side, which... More

Other than the history behind this and the obvious awesomeness that comes with being able to walk through and experience what it might have been like, it was just eh. The staff didn't seem too excited to be dressed up in period costumes and working lol. Probably really cool for kids. As an adult, the views were great and the... More

Excellent ranger program and the view from the roof is fantastic. The movie gives the audience a real appreciation of the way wars were fought oh so long ago.

We loved this national park! It's free and a lot of fun. Make sure the kids grab their booklets so they can earn their Jr. National Park Ranger badges. We took the ferry to the island (about a 3 minute ride) and stayed on the island with the ranger for the tour and exploration (30 minutes only). The kids completed... More

We were staying close enough to walk to the park. We took advantage one morning and had a great time. The boat to the fort and the tour was fun and this unique piece of history in a beautiful setting was fun for all. You can see everything in about an hour and a half without rushing. The guides were... More
