I learned so much that I did not know before. Greatly enjoyed the reenactment. Excellent signage for those of us who like to tour at our own pace.

A pontoon boat takes you over to the fort on Rattlesnake island. The ranger was very informative on the importance of the fort protecting the inlet from invaders.

Excellent, free historic place to visit, but the boat can be canceled if it starts to rain. Also, make sure you arrive at least 30 min prior to boarding, to make sure you get a ticket. I went on a Saturday and arrived 10 min before departure and of course, it was full. But it's ok, I watched a short... More

Ha! The park ranger was great! It was a free 5 minute boat ride over the water to the fort. We were able to walk around the fort and climb a small ladder to the roof, not for the elderly or those of a big stature. The teens enjoyed the climbing and look out. It is really sunny on the... More

This is a fun adventure for anyone over the age of 6 years old. It includes a short boat ride across the river to get to the fort. Then you get to crawl over this little fort.

After leaving the Daytona/Ormond Beach area, we decided to travel down A1A. We passed the entrance to this place and were curious. We turned around and decided to go check it out. We were amazed that the tickets to ride the ferry to take the tour at the fort were free. The ferry leaves every hour on the half hour.... More

Just south of St Augustine you will find this treat. At the visitor center, pick up a pass to the ferry which you must take to the fort. They made 2 trips at our scheduled time of 10:30, because there were more than 35 ppl. The park ranger was very informative - just enough info. The fort is not large.... More

The tour is every hour so if you miss it you have to wait. You take a ferry across the water to the "fort". The tour guide gives you the background and you get to view all of the fort on your own terms for about 15minutes. This is enough time because it is basically the outside, two rooms and... More

Cool fort, artifacts and a free ferry ride, can't ask for more! There were original and replica cannons. Displays include the living quarters for the soldiers which had beds, clothing and cooking gear. The most fun was the ladder climb to the top of the fort. Views from the top and the surrounding grounds and also the ferry were beautiful.... More
