Really can't add to what has already been said. Just do it! We were visiting friends in Palm Coast and hence the trip. Fort Mantanzas was NOT on our radar beforehand. Someone said the ferry was free. We paid $1/pp. Our group was a good one. There was a group of teen-agers visiting from the west coast of Florida. However,... More

The fort gives a sense of what it took to defend the city. I was amazed on the tatics used 400 years ago and how they mirror some of today's tatics. Well preserved. The City deserves to be Pround

All the times I've been to St Augustine, I've never been here. What a pleasant surprise. Took short boat trip to Fort. Did tour and was able to get lots of info from Park Staff. VERY interesting. I'd probably come again just because it was fun and not expensive. Kids loved it.

Very nice area to visit. The ferry ride across to the fort was nice and the men directing the tour were very friendly and full of history. We were with a very fun group to tour with also. Which made it even better. The view is beautiful. All free!!! Very nice way to spend a part of your day.

The Fort is a neat place to visit and I was very much impressed by the fount of knowlege of my tour guide. The tour guide explained about the life of the 7 soldiers who worked at the Fort and mentioned how it was only attacked 7 times in its 300 year history. It was also neat to learn more... More

Great way to spend an hour along one of the prettiest beaches along the northeast coast. Operated by the park system, its a free pontoon boat ride over to the fort where you'll learn Mantanzaz means slaughter and why the name.

It was beautiful to see. The location is next to the water; so one gets a great breeze. Great historic stop. Go and see!

We drove to the other side of the island to go see this fort. It's not huge, like the other fort, but it's a great experience! While we waited for the Ferry to come pick up us, we strolled through the Nature trail, then stood down by the shoreline where the dolphins where playing in the water! They were literally... More

This place had great tour guides, a rich history lesson, was beautiful, and it was free -- what more could you ask for? We absolutely LOVED our visit to Fort Matanzas and would go again in a heartbeat. The history was very interesting and the artifacts inside were also very cool. Bonus? We kept seeing dolphins in the river. You... More

National Park where you take short free ferry ride to fort with guide and learn about history of fort, etc. We also saw dolphins swimming by boat in intracoastal.
