Scenic fort

The fort itself is very scenic plus the views from the fort are scenic. The self guide tour is very informative. The fort is the oldest stone fort in US.

I was hoping for a better representation of what the fort looked liked internally (lots of empty rooms) at the height of it's use.

My son was at the castle at few years and told me that if I am in the area to visit it. I went to the castle with my daughter and we were able to see the cannon lit too. So excitiing to see history

Historical old fort built of local material by the Spanish from 1672 to 1695 to guard St. Augustine harbor. The U.S. acquired it in 1821 from Spain. Reenactors in period Spanish dress portraying artillerymen march to two of the canon and fire it. The park service and volunteers keep a close eye on people near the walls and canon so... More

If you like history, you will enjoy this. It is loaded with facts and was very prominent in the history of the area. Also enjoyed seeing a d reading about the construction of the place. You can listen to guides or tour on your own and read the plaquards.

While there was a canon display this place did not grab much of our time, as it was not all that special. It was nice to see the water from this elevation but other than that it was just average. Good for old time war buffs I suppose.

What a trip back in history. We learned so much about the history of St. Augustine by exploring the Fort. The staff was helpful and the view from the top was amazing.

This is the highlight of this wonderful city. The fort is in perfect condition and well explained. Located on the banks of the water it is easy to understand what an important role it played in the continuance of the city.

We spent most of our time at this one location during our stay in St. Augustine. I am big history buff and my wife is a photographer, so this place was a win-win for us. This place is within easy walking distance from anywhere in the historic district.

Thank John S
