The Castillo de San Marcos was simply perfect. I remember visiting as a child, and it is just as magnificent as ever! Spend some time in the casements and learn about the history. So worth an entire day!

The history of the fort was pretty awesome. Took 23 years to build and was never taken in battle...pretty impressive. It was intetesting to see how the soldiers lived.

Unique and educational experience. It was pretty neat. Displays were easy to read. Great spots for pictures. And we enjoyed the cannon fire off.

The Castillo is very impressive outside. However, once inside it paled in comparison to the Castillo de San Cristobal.

Great place to go for those passionate about history. Well maintained and not bad for a $7 ticket. Quite a lot of information about the fort and its history, however no information about the displacement/ holocaust of Native Americans from the region of Florida since the first settlement of Europeans in and around St. Augustine.

One of the two oldest forts in St Augustine. National Park admission is required and includes access for several days and is very resonable reasonable <$10 per person and annual passes are available. The courtyard level has some handicapped access and restrooms but stairs to the lookout would be difficult for those with mobility limitations. Park Rangers are informative and... More

$7 adults, kids are free. VERY hot, bring water bottles. Lots to read, that part may not be so interesting for little ones. My kids are 5th graders & like history, so they enjoyed reading the plaques in different rooms.

I visited Castillo de San Marcos on a recent trip to St Augustine. Centrally located across the street from a fabulous Pirate Museum, I found it was a great place to show my son some history. Rather that spewing off names and dates , the staff was informative and interesting ... DON'T MISS IT!

We always love going to the fort with our kids. Very reasonably priced. We like being able to go at our own pace with our young kids. We like the amazing views from the upper level of the fort. My kids especially like the cannons. Go early in the morning as it get very hot in the summer months. Would... More

This magnificent example of Spanish military fortifications in the New World, stands on the water in old St Augustine with a view out to Anastasia Island and the Atlantic Ocean. The Fort is managed by the National Park Service; rangers and volunteers are there to offer historical interpretation and to demonstrate the firing of the canon on the upper deck.... More
