My wife and I have visited Florida dozens of times over the years. For our 20th anniversary, we decided to try St Augustine. The fort was awesome. Very interesting and full of historical significance. Highly recommend the few dollars they charge to enter.

The fort is very easy to find in old town St Augustine. It is very cool to walk around the ancient stone fortress. It also gives insight into the lives of the settlers, and the constant foes, from pirates to the English to Mosquitos, that they had to face on a regular basis. Look into getting discount tickets for military,... More

We had time to kill and took the scenic walk around this marvelous fort. The sites were incredible and gave you a peek first hand at part of the Oldest City in the USA. Marvelous!!

The Castillo do San Marcos is fantastic! It's full of history; and the volunteers make the experience even better.

We just visited the Spanish Fort in Puerto Rico in December, which is much bigger than this one...I thought, oh no, another fort (the hubby loves this stuff) but I learned a lot about the history of the town and its rulers, which gave good context for our sight seeing in town. I enjoyed learning about the unique make up... More

Nice history lesson to learn about St Augustine and how it all began. A must see when in the area. Also, a very beautiful way to spend several hours of your day with wonderful views

We had a very nice tour by a female park ranger. She was so good in explaining everything about the fort. It is a amazing place and located right in the middle of town. We missed the firing of the cannons, would liked of seen that.

This is a National Park and an entrance fee is required. Can't remember the exact price, but it was not too much. This is where the whole country started, old St Augustine and this fort tells it all. Be sure to catch the canon firings on the weekend. It is so cool. Bring the kids, they will love it. Must... More

If you are in St. Augustine, this is definitely a must-see attraction even if you are not a history buff. My recommendation is to attend the "talk" so that a park ranger can explain the history of the attraction to you. You will learn so much more about the attraction than reading the pamphlet that they hand you at the... More

Had fun touring fort. Only issue I had with the tour is it is self guided and you have to read every display. No guides provided by National Park.
