If you are visiting Florida, especially by car, why haven't you been tot he Castillo yet? Being a life long Floridian and a frequent visitor to St. Augustine I visit the Castillo at least once a year. Also, my wife and I were recently married on the grounds of the Castillo. Why do we continue to visit? The cannon firing... More

The fort is full of history from the 1500s take your time READ everything, go in all the rooms or take a tour. If Summer go early before 10AM to avoid crowds and the HEAT. it can get pretty hot inside. Reasonably priced kids under 15 free, 10.00 for a seven day pass....

Definitely a must see because of the history; but don't go in the summer--way too hot to fully enjoy. I just wanted to get back to A/C

This was the highlight of our visit to historic St. Augustine. We walked thru the fort, the viewed the brief film that depicted the intricate steps of defending the city during colonial times. Afterward we were treated to an awesome re-enactment, complete with soldiers in colonial garb and the firing of muskets and a canon! We even got gunfire all... More

The fort is well preserved and the displays inside are very informative. If you walk inside the rooms you will get the story of the fort from construction to remodeling and attack. They have cannon firing demonstrations and knowledgable park rangers. A must see if you are in St.. Augustine.

This should definitely be a stop while in the St Augustine area. There is so much to see and learn inside and outside of the site. The views while on the top is pretty amazing too!

Great place to visit, I love going every time I get a chance whether it be actually going inside or just walking around the grounds. Me I enjoy history very much and hey obviously you do too since you are wanting to visit the St. Augustine area, I personally enjoy walking the grounds outside the fort at night (Less people... We went on a very hot day. Loved being able to wander around on our own. There were presentations scheduled around the day, but we decided to read the signs. Very interesting place.

Learned alot about the history of Saint Augustine. Was amazing to see how the soldiers lived. The ammo and cannon demonstrations were worth the trip alone.
