Climbed the lighthouse to prove a 'senior' could do it. My wife didn't try because of recent knee issues. Took my time to the top, lots of landing to rest on and pass other people (or let them pass). Views from top very nice. Could see out over bay to downtown St. Augustine or out to the Atlantic.

Some people will ache when they climb up the stairs. However is well worth it when you get to the top. See the view and the mechanics of the light-house. Then buy a postcard at the gift shop. Truly an educational experience.

We received tickets through our bed and breakfast and decided to take the trip to the top. I am afraid of heights but made it to the top and felt very safe. It was well worth the time and effort. 219 steps in the heat sounds hard, but there was a great breeze and I never felt overheated. Loved it.

The grounds, museum, and lighthouse are very well maintained. There is plenty of educational material to read up on. Be aware, they close the tower (lighthouse) when it is raining so plan accordingly. Also, we had an infant with us so one adult was able to get in for half price. There is a play area with a pirate ship... More

If you're looking to spend a nice day out, here's your place. As a history lover, I love this place with a deep passion. There's so much to do here. From trails, to exhibits and the view from the lighthouse.... wow! Also, very haunted ! ;)

We took one of the tours and really enjoyed it. The guide was very helpful and we got to see them do the work up close. The top is worth the walk, just take your time and enjoy the views.

We did the Dark of the Moon paranormal Tour at night, and next day we did the regular tour. The night tour was awesome, even experience some sort of paranormal activity. we have a blast. The day tour was just as fun and educational, learning the history of the Lighthouse.

We did not climb that lighthouse but it is very pretty in a wooded setting. There is nothing like driving down the road and suddenly seeing a lighthouse. I never get tired of it.

We got to the lighthouse early and beat the rush. The climb up the lighthouse was well worth the effort, the views from all sides were super. Because the weather was clear, we could see for miles in every direction. Very interesting history behind the lighthouse and the buildings within the compound.

Went in the morning time - so not so hot & there is a breeze, and somewhat cooler as you reach the top. There are also landings with benches where you can rest every 25, or so steps. Also comes in handy if there are people behind you (to let them go on), or meeting people coming up or going... More
