I've been to a lot of lighthouses and this is one of the best. The view from the top is amazing and the museum/living quarters is very informative. They don't allow little kids up the light house, but that makes sense since letting people carry kids up/down the stairs would be a huge liability.

The lighthouse and the lightkeepers house which is the museum are presented to the public very well. This is a great tour and museum. We took the self guided tour and the volunteer suggested we download the lighthouse app to our iPhone and it worked really well giving us a lot of history about the lighthouse. If you go there... The old lighthouse of St. Augustine sits among a setting of 100 year old moss covered live oak trees and has a gift shop and tour of the lighthouse available for guests to visit. The grounds are easily assessable for young and old alike.

The st. Augustine lighthouse is a must visit if you want a physical challenge as well as pick up local marine history at the museum. The lighthouse is 141 years old and is 165 feet tall. There is aspiral cast iron staircase with 212 steps to reach the outside viwing platform which allows you to walk around the lighthouse on... More

This is certainly a good place to visit at least once. There was a great view from the top. All the employees were friendly and present to answer questions.

We have been to the site several times before and enjoy it each time. If you don't have major health issues or disabilities, be sure to take the "219 step" trip to the top of the lighthouse for a fantastic photographic view of the surrounding area(it is a steep circular interior staircase, but there are several landings where you can... although it is difficult to find markings to get to the lighthouse it is a very well kept lighthouse in the most beautiful surroundings of trees and the museum is worth a visit

The climb up the lighthouse was challenging but we made it and what a view it was from the top! Seeing how it operates was quite interesting and the museum was very good.

Having done the "Oldest House" in St Augustine in the morning it was such a beautiful day that we decided to walk across the bridge towards the lighthouse. Distances are quite deceptive - it looked closer than it appeared so it took us some time to reach the area. There is no direct route from the main road and, after... More

The climb up the lighthouse is scary if you're afraid of heights, but once in top (if you can ce out the door) the view is just breathtaking! Well worth the climb up.
