Description: Change your view of history at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum...
Change your view of history at the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum. Enjoy the most breathtaking view in Northeast Florida from the top of our 165 ft. Tall lighthouse tower, built between 1871 and 1874. Visit the historic Victorian-era keepers' house to experience what life was like for the lighthouse keepers and their families. Kids will love exploring the shipyard playground and shaded maritime hammock nature trails. Discover the stories of ancient shipwrecks with our underwater archaeology team on a special guided tour. Or, if you're brave enough, try a Dark of the Moon paranormal tour of the lighthouse after hours! Snacks are available in the keepers' cafe and you can't leave without grabbing a souvenir in our gift shop. For discounts on tours and purchases, ask about our museum memberships!

We arrived just as the Behind the Scenes Tour was leaving & decided to join it. It was well worth the app. 2 hrs. spent. Don was our extremely knowledgeable guide. We learned about life as a lighthouse keeper, a prestigious job, as well as life for his family. Maintenance involved in keeping a lighthouse running was fascinating. He told... More

A visit to this lighthouse and the grounds surrounding it was very interesting and thought provoking. To see how these families lived and tended to the lighthouse was engaging because of the way their lives are represented throughout the grounds. Through physical items and written presentations the history of the lighthouse is on of the people responsible for it. Once... More

I really enjoyed the lighthouse. The climb up was a bit more than I thought (guess I'm gettin' old) This is the oldest lighthouse in the US and the tallest, too, I believe. It is fully restored. There is a small museum in the keepers house that is also very interesting.

It is hard to put in words the serene beauty of St. Augustine, but to climb the stairs of this magnificant Light house, to view from the top the area, see the old fort, it is breathtaking

Did not know it before but they say people see ghosts here all the time in the light. Another great place to visit. We climbed to the top of the light and walked around the outside up top. What a view. The grounds had rees that were huge with huge irregular trunks and branches. Just beautiful. Nice museum downstairs and... More

The little area you walk around to see the lighthouse is protected and only available if you pay. The museum was the same. Kind of disappointed.

Touring the lighthouse itself was fantastic. Viewing the home and all the historical information about the lighthouse and St. Augustine was very "enlightening". The grounds are beautiful and the play area, which was a ship, for our 3 year old grandson was great. All of the personnel were very informed and answered questions we had. It was a pleasant outing to... More
