Happy Ours is located right on St. Joe Bay. They had good equipment, great venue, good people. The water was great and the route advice perfect!
My husband and I rented kayaks from these folks twice during our family vacation. Both times the owners were friendly and helpful and directed us to the best spots for scalloping. We feasted both nights and have some in the freezer right now!
During our vacation with my family in port st joe, we decided to go scalloping. We went to happy ours to get a kayak to help my mother in law get around in the bay. When we pulled in, a rather unpleasant man (owner), met us at our car. When we told him we wanted kayaks, he said they closed... More
From the moment we stepped out of the car it was an awful experience. We had just parked, got out and there was a lady there telling us we needed to park elsewhere. So, naturally we said "ok" but before we could get back in the car she told us they had no canoes and nothing that would hold our... More
We rented a couple of kayaks from Happy Ours. I don't think there could be a better location on St. Joseph Bay to kayak. We were given direction on where to go to see lots of aquatic animals and we we saw a lot: stingrays, starfish, shovel nose sharks, scallops, horseshoe crabs and all kinds of birds. This is a... More
We were excited to rent fishing gear and canoes...this guy, the owner was just so unfriendly. Perhaps because he lives in the area, he has lost the feel and excitement for the place...he should not let that rub off on visitors. We went into Port St. Joe to rent for the rest of the week and returned his rentals early.
The ten minutes we spent with Debbie reminded me of the way my 3rd grade teacher used to treat us. She 1st tried to be funny by insulting us, then she shook us down for $5 for a 9th scalloper after spending $575. After paddling for a few minutes her attitude came out and she decided to quit guiding us... More
Back when our kids were in elementary school vacationing in Mexico Beach for the very first time, my family had so much fun just kayaking out a couple hundred yard in front of the outpost and letting the kids snorkeling in a few feet of water. All the little critters we saw was amazing. This time around, I took my... More
We stopped in to talk to Debbie at Happy Ours on Wednesday, May 15th about kayaking the next day. When we first drove up I was charmed by the quaint feel of the grounds. It is a well maintained property with chickens, a horse and a donkey. Debbie came out to warmly greet us and answer any questions that we... More
I don't get the negative comments...Debbie was nice as can be. Other members of my family had used Happy Ours before but this was my first time. I had been in a kayak before so I can't attest to how they do with first timers, but Debbie seemed quite willing to answer any questions. If you don't know what you're... More
