Description: 11/10/2012 Update on the status of Vortex Spring ownership. The Dockerys...
11/10/2012 Update on the status of Vortex Spring ownership. The Dockerys are the owners of Vortex Spring and we plan on stay here for the foreseeable future. We are investing a great amount of money in cleaning up the water. So please come back and give us advice on how to make your stay more enjoyably.Dear all past and future visitors of Vortex Spring. My name is Connie Taylor and I was the manager at Vortex Spring 5 years ago when it was the amazing vacation spot you all remember. The resort was sold 5 years ago with great sadness by many involved in the upkeep of the property. The new owner has neglected the property so bad that it is going through a foreclosure sale on the 18th of October. There is a very high probability that the original owners the Dockerys will get the resort back. I am currently working at Vortex Spring trying to repair the damage that has been done. We have repaired the majority of the roads and are endeavoring in efforts to clean the water by removing the algae and under water weeds. I will keep you all up to date on the ownership after the 18th. Please don't write Vortex Spring off as a vacation spot just yet. The old management is back with a vengeance. Our staff is knowledgeable, friendly and ready to help any way possible. We are doing everything in our power to restore in to the treasure it once was. Thank you all.

We went down here and tent camped at the campground while we got open water scuba certified. The spring is quite small for all of the divers that were there but it was still interesting. There are several species of fish that live there and there are submerged vehicles to explore. There's a also a rope swing, small zipline, and... More

I took my 9 & 4 year old daughters in the store for supplies & souvenirs. An employee walked in & said "what is this f***ing s**t?!" Pointing at some bags beside the employee entrance to the cash register. Someone behind the counter said "that's the s**t for my wedding" The lady replied "oh that f***ing s**t. You can do... More

Was on a quick winter trip to Florida so I could dive. Very nice facility. Full service dive shop and gift shop. Facility was well maintained. They were doing some work on the campground area and the heavy equipment was making the spring cloudy, but visibility was still good. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Prices were very reasonable. Over... More

This place compares well to the one other freshwater training site I have visited. The store is quite well stocked with dive-related supplies and other goodies. The staff are friendly and efficient. The spring-fed dive basin has multiple entry piers. The water gets stirred up quickly when students are present which makes the water comparable to a quarry dive site.... More

An absolute perfect place to relax and keep scuba skills sharp. A dive buddy and I drove down from Tennessee for two reasons. First, we wanted to get away from the snow and ice! Second, and most importantly, was to shake the dust off the dive gear as we are heading to the Bahamas for a dive trip in a... More

We have visited Vortex Springs multiple times with our friends and local dive shop. This is a great safe learning environment for students, clear water, and family friendly environment. The camping sites and grounds are well kept. The rooms are a little dated but the owners have been working to update these diligently. A great place to relax, enjoy good... More

I have been here on three different occasions for dive training and it is very adequate for that purpose. Two things to know... 1) the earlier in the day, the better, as clarity becomes less and less as more divers silt the water through out the day, and 2) like all springs, it is COLD! 68 degrees year round. You... More

The Vortex Springs is a nice place to practice your diving skills. The staff is helpful. It is overpriced. We did a morning dive on a Saturday and were the only divers there. As we were leaving, the place was filling up. The changing rooms were clean. It's a "do it once" dive to practice skills.
