Johnson Beach is awesome! Gorgeous and secluded! Too the person that reviewed before me complaining of the smell, there is a red tide right that stretches from Panama city,Florida to dauphin island, Al. This has nothing to do with Johnson Beach, period key and Johnson Beach are a piece of old florida, there are condos here but not much weekly... More

Growing up in Pensacola we always went to Johnsons beach because it was closer to where we lived. Now I live out of state but go home quite often and we visit Johnsons Beach with our children, not because it's closer but because it's so much prettier than Pensacola Beach.

After reading about Johnson Beach online, I was prepared to be blown away, but when we got there, it was just an average beach with a terrible smell. We ended up having a much better time at Pensacola Beach and Fort Pickens.

To us a secluded, private beach is the best kind of beach -- especially one that is mostly clean and hassle-free. And that's exactly what we found at Johnson's Beach on Perdido Key, part of the Gulf National Seashore managed by the National Park Service. There was plenty of parking near the beach for families but for hard-core secluded beach... More

Nice alternative to the commercialized beaches so often promoted in this region. Originally the 'Colored Only' beach during the segregation era. Sad history.

If you like a beautiful, peaceful beach experience, you should definitely try Johnson Beach at Gulf Islands National Seashore in Perdido Key, FL. The white sand and blue green clear water is the perfect place to spend an ultra relaxing day. Unlike busy Pensacola Beach, there is an admission to the Gulf Islands National Seashore since it is under the... More

This is by far the nicest beach I have seen anywhere, and I have seen beaches all over the world from Mombasa to Constanta. The sand is white as bleached sugar, and just as fine. It's nearly deserted. Part of a national park, you need a national park pass to get in or pay for a day pass. Maybe that's... More

We were doing some sightseeing out on Perdido Key and came to this attraction. The fee is $15 per car but it lasts for 7 days. When we entered, we enjoyed playing at this wonderful beach named for an African-American private who helped save lives in the Korean War. The brochure you get details how this beach was one of... I was here in early October. Wasn't very crowded. Which was awesome. Lotsa heron and pelicans around. Perfect white sands as you find down around these parts. A short "Discovery Trail" near the main parking lot. My only gripe was it cost $15. Seemed like a lot for one person in a car, especially on an October weekend. I guess... More
