Actually hidden is not the right word. Florida has a ton of great beaches, but most tourist zip right past them going to the popular beaches. Johnson Beach is southwest of Pensacola near or a part of the Gulf Island National Seahores area. It is pure white sugar powder sand. You will reach it by going down highway 292 towards... More

We paid $15 fee which was good for 7 days. The beach was quiet. We had lunch there. We stayed about 2 hours at the beach. The facility was nice and clean. The sand was white and soft. The water was little green. After swimming, we drove to see the gulf island which was beautiful.

The sand is sugar fine, the water is clear and blue, there are plenty of people fishing, flying kites, laying out, swimming, and other family oriented things. The board walk is a nice walk as is going down the road to the end. The cost to enter just went up, there are only bathrooms at the first parking area. Parking... More

We enjoyed Johnson Beach and its beauty. Less crowed than Perdido Key or OBA beaches and a lot more scenic.

A beautiful natural setting. Lots to explore in Fort McRay, the nature trail, bird watching, dolphins, fishing, shells every where and snorkling.

We were actually staying in a condo just down the beach from here, but I thought I might find a few more shells on a less crowded piece of beach. I really didn't find any more, but it was way less crowded. One tip I would recommend is to drive down Johnson Beach road, once you're in the park, and... More

This is a great option if you are looking to go to a beach in the Orange Beach/ Perdido Beach area. There is a fee, but not a bad price. It was not too crowded on the Saturday in June I was there. I was looking for bay side beach / shore for wade fishing, since the Surf was extremely... More

This is my sanctuary! I'm so grateful to be able to wake up on a gorgeous morning and go down the street for some beach time ~ My friend of 40+ years, takes vacation in Perdido. She was excited when we moved here last year. She had never been to Johnson's Beach. So I took her and her granddaughter for... More

I have been going to this beach since I was a small child. I'm so glad that it became a national park to protect the natural beauty and avoid commercialization. The pavilions are large and spacious, fantastic for family gatherings. We usually don't go to the beach until after 3pm, so take note that the lifeguards leave at 6pm and... More

This is an easy beach, typically with nice clear water, but not after a storm or moderate winds.. it is just shy of the clear waters found on santa rosa island and farther east. Nice dunes and white sands, though a little darker after the oil spill
