Just awesome it's beautiful here. The water seems totally different from most of the rest of the gulf coast. Florida just got lucky.

The island is about 50 miles long, a barrier island off the coast of northwest Florida. It stretches from Pensacola to Destin. At the east end, the name changes to Okaloosa Island. The two ends of the island are bustling with condos, hotels, shopping, and restaurants. The sweet spot is the center, especially the Gulf Island National Seashore. Here you... More

Don't let anyone kid you.The best beaches in Florida are in the panhandle.Talcom powder white sand, just like Siesta beach in Sarasota where I live. The difference is Siesta is crowded and the panhandle beaches are not.

And the National Seashore just gets more beautiful. It gets hammered by hurricanes, and still it's spectacular. Emerald waters, white sands, beautiful birds, Blue Angels, sublime sunsets.

This was our second visit to Santa Rosa. Beautiful white sand. Crystal clear water. No hotels, homes, or buildings for miles. Lots of wildlife. The perfect place to get away from it all.

This really is the best kept secret in the Pensacola area. Scenic, beautiful beaches and definitely off the beaten path, yet still very close to the restaurants and bars. This has become my favorite place to visit in Florida...so don't go there!!!

The beaches at Santa Rosa, Fort Pickens, and Perdido Key are all part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore Parks. A weekly pass costs $8, and allows access to all three beaches. All beaches have toilet/shower/changing facilities, as well as open picnic areas (with roofs!) that allow you to escape the noonday heat. The beaches are incredibly clean, and free... More

We loved the snowy plovers that were nesting and the little baby birds. The beach was clean and the waves were invigorating. This is a great place to visit.

We stayed in Sundunes Condos, #163. It is right on the beach with fabulous gulf views. There are two restaurants on the island, an Italian and a locally owned seafood place with frontage on the sound side of the island where there are beach volleyball courts, and a bar. There are local scooter and bike rentals. The unit where we... More

Santa Rosa Island = Peaceful Atmosphere. Fell in love with this place and it's charming way transporting one to total relaxation. Complete relaxation from enjoying the white sand, tranquil ocean waves, and soft, warm breeze. Not to mention, no crowds, it's quiet, safe and clean. A friend told me about Santa Rosa Island when I was scouting out places to... More
