Beautiful place. Would love to have been able to spend more time there. Went through on our way to Panama.

We rented bikes and were able to ride around. It was extremely hot, but that didn't stop us from riding and catching shade near a little hut with a bench and bbq grill on the beach

It is my favorite beach in the Florida Panhandle. The sand is fine, white, like sugar; we call it sugar sand. It sparkles in the sun and moon light. If you get away from the lights, you can see millions of stars while laying on the beach. Parts of the island are desert-like, sparsely populated, but with a vibrant community.... More

I'm prejudiced, as I grew up when there were no tall buildings on the Island, and you could stop almost anywhere and get in the water. Those places are still there, even though most things are set up for the tourist trade. However, you can still find quiet spots, or go with the flow. Your choice. Most things on the... More

Why go to the Bahamas-Atlantis when you can go to Portofino. This DELUXE spa residence-resort has it all and the Gulf of Mexico pure white sand, emerald clear water and quite near-deserted sound-side is perfect for a solo, couple or family getaway.

There are several parts to this island. We did spend some time at Pensacola Beach, behind our hotel. After several days the sea weed came in. It turned the water into a horrible mess. Further down the road we went onto the National Park Service area. It costs to get in. You can go see Ft Pickens also. The beaches... More

Very well maintained beach. It's family friendly but still has lots for the adults to do. GREAT vacation spot!

Just awesome it's beautiful here. The water seems totally different from most of the rest of the gulf coast. Florida just got lucky.

The island is about 50 miles long, a barrier island off the coast of northwest Florida. It stretches from Pensacola to Destin. At the east end, the name changes to Okaloosa Island. The two ends of the island are bustling with condos, hotels, shopping, and restaurants. The sweet spot is the center, especially the Gulf Island National Seashore. Here you... More

Don't let anyone kid you.The best beaches in Florida are in the panhandle.Talcom powder white sand, just like Siesta beach in Sarasota where I live. The difference is Siesta is crowded and the panhandle beaches are not.
