A warm sunny day floating carelessly down the lazy river makes you forget all the issues you may be experiencing. Forget the high prices to rent a canoe ($50 per person but mandatory charge for 2 people so $100 - umm no) float down the river for free. Drop your floats at Deaton Bridge boat ramp, cross over the bridge... More

We took the 2 hour canoe trip and it was very reasonable in price....It is a little confusing....After you find it you pay for which of the trips you desire to take....then drive down the road about a mile the turn right where they have the canoes...(here you pay the state $4 to park...you take a bus to the place... This park is off the beaten path. Had I known it was such a distance from I-10 I may have decided to stay elsewhere since we were on a time schedule to travel further west. We were only there for one night but this is a park I would come back to and stay for at least 3 nights in... More

One of the nicer state parks for camping and family fun. Plenty to do and keep a family occupied. Water is definitely cold so you may want to go when it is a little warmer if you want to get in the river. I would recommend late March at the earliest. Hit the near by Blackwater River Outpost for canoeing... More

This park is in the pine woods habitat and is frequently visited by birders seeking those special birds which live only in these forests. There are excellent opportunities to see the endangered Red-cockaded Woodpecker and other species.

We loved our visit to this park. Kayaked the Sweetwater & enjoyed the campfire, even though it rained. The water is beautiful, there are lots of nice trails & the camp sites are very nicely maintained.

Blackwater is usually not too crowded unless you catch a spring break group or a load of outgoers from Adventure's Unlimited. There are several put ins for canoes or tubes and the river is maintained pretty well. It's slow with lots of sandbars so you can make the outing into a full day.

Bob's Canoes is awesome, the area was very clean. Coldwater Creek is great. Just need to go when the water is flowing always call first. Went on the half-day trip that was great.
