Hurricane Ivan happened almost 3 yrs. ago. The most beautiful and private beaches are on the peninsula to Fort Pickens. we took an after dark tour of Fort Pickens. It was pretty neat, you have a guide telling you about everything. The bugs were TERRIBLE! BRING BUGSPRAY! I'm serious. The fort apparently has tours, but the road is currently under construction and is closed. You must park seven (7) miles from the fort.
