Really cool experience!

Rented a pontoon for the day, great idea. Hung out with friends, a lil snorkeling and swimming. Nice area for anything to do with water. Overall a nice time and a nice spot to... read more

We rented a pontoon boat at a reasonable price. The lady told us the hot spots to go and were easily found. We had the boat for 4 hours and that was a perfect amount of time. Much better than the 2 hour tours with a company that were offered. Bring your beach gear to hang out on the beach... More

We have been out to Shell Island twice now. Shell Island is a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico. The water is clear and emerald green in colour. The sand is white as sugar. The island is a wildlife refuge and is almost untouched by man. You need to carry what ever you need to the island, and bring... More

Not impressed. The boat ride to the island was my favorite part. Shells were scarce and not what I'd expected. The shells on the beach where we were staying were much more plentiful. Take lots of water but also pack lightly. It's a scorching walk from the drop off point to the beach (about 10 mins). It was somewhat inexpensive... More

1st things 1st. Rent a pontoon boat to go out here!! It's so much better to be able to pull up anchor and go to a different part of the island whenever you want. We saw so much cool stuff out here. 1st time on the beach and we saw crabs running For their holes. Kids were able to dig... More

Not worth it to go over with your family if you already have a beach front hotel. I feel like it was not worth the $40 for two ppl to go over and carry all our stuff and carry it all back to a place that is no different than the beach near our hotel.

Stayed in Fort Walton Beach and wanted a day trip. Went to state park in Panama City and paid for entry to park just to ride shuttle to Island. Around 65 dollars for a 30 dollar trip. If you are staying at a nice hotel or condo on the beach save your money and time. Your water will be nicer... More
