you must get to this island by water taxi/personal watercraft/ jetski r the Capt. Anderson boat. It is nice to get away from the crowded beaches to this island, One is more likely to find shells that are of nice size on the Eastern Gulf side of the Island ,,,, although it is also nice to explore the By side... We went to Shell Island on a pontoon boat we rented. I think it's over-hyped in all the literature and websites. It's a small island, no facilities at all and who knows how many people visit it over time. Anchoring off the island to observe the birds, fish, and plants is good though. We relaxed on the boat and watched... More

Since I am from Wisconsin, we hardly see a sea shell unless it's store brought, so it was worth the $25 per person to go to this island. With the purchase, we got an umbrella, shelling bag & snorkel gear. Island was pretty & really peaceful. Found some amazing shells, and everyone found a sand dollar. If you have never... More

The Best Beach to collect all those sea shells and sand dollars. Loved everything about this island.

I didn't think I could be impressed by a beach; I've been to so many beautiful beaches. But, I was speechless. Best by far.

The trip out to the island was a lot of fun and the island was beautiful although a little hot. Not too many shells left by the time we got there as we didn't leave for the island until 3:00PM but enjoyable anyhow.

This barrier island is long and kinda cool because no one hardly goes to it. If you want to hunt for shells, skip it as the name is a total misnomer.

Shell Island was pretty, but all the beaches in PCB are awesome. To get here, you'll have to take a shuttle or a tour, so it will cost you some $. We spent a few hours here as part of a snorkel adventure. I did not see anything that I would not have seen at the beach at my condo,... More

Went on Dolphin Tour and this included going to Shell Island. It was very pretty and pristine. But disappointing for shell hunting, been picked clean. Just a beach that's empty.

We should have checked trip advisor 1st. $75+ and no shells. It's no different than any other beautiful pcb. Our $$ would have been much better spent enjoying a dinner on the beach. It's a good place to see but not for the $$. Just go to the beach.
