Nice beach to walk in the morning, before it gets too crowded

The walk along the beach was nice, as the island is undeveloped. Not many shells at all (too many people picking up shells before late May). You have to carry anything you want... read more

This island was beautiful and the name explains it all. I feel like this is one of those places you have to go to once. Its kinda a pain. Get tickets, wait for bus, load bus, drop off at dock, load boat, boat docks, get off, walk what seems like a mile....ugh. Hoot and tried from the get go! No... More

Best way to visit is to rent a pontoon, I used Adventures at Sea and booked online the night before. Selected the 1/2 day morning and with 10 of us it was perfect. Kids searched for shells, had the wild dolphins visit our boat. It was the highlight of the trip, going again in Oct.

The walk along the beach was nice, as the island is undeveloped. Not many shells at all (too many people picking up shells before late May). You have to carry anything you want in with you. Take an umbrella, as there's no shade and plenty to drink. Did not rent snorkel gear and glad we didn't - rather snorkel where... More

We came to PCB after a week stay in Fort Walton/Destin and were really disappointed. The beaches are pretty but not anymore so than Destin. The beaches here have a weird smell to them and most of the hotels/shops need to be updated. However the bay and St. Andrews state park are beautiful. Its $8 to get into the park... More

This was our 1st trip to Shell Island and we LOVED it! We took a ferry ride over (about 10 mins). The only bad part was that our boat dropped us off on the bay side and we had to walk around (about 10 mins) to the gulf side. Which in itself is no big deal, but since we missed... More

it was a fun boat ride and our capt. was funny. we had fun but you could rarely find a shell that wasn't broken up. there is no shade so make sure to bring an umbrella or something to shade you from the sun.

Shell Island is exactly that, an island. It was just the ocean and sand, nothing else. I could have experienced that for free at my hotel. The boat ride was nice. Also, the people that worked at the gift shop where you buy your tickets were very rude and seemed to not like their job. What a great first impression!... More

I loved the Island! Peaceful and beautiful beach! I loved seeing the dolphins! They serve a lunch for you. I would love to go again!

Trekked to the gulf side and found sand dollars washed up on shore, but not any big shells. Was able to snorkel near shore and saw a few small fish. Stayed from 10 am to 12 pm, had a nice area to our selves, however closer to noon there were many boats showing up but still nice. Great place to... More

We were excited to go on this excursion but the water was not as nice as the water on the beach near our hotel. The water was dark and we were unable to see to the bottom. Not a fan.
