We stopped at Shell Island for about 45 minutes on a private tour. Many people talk about the lack of shells on Shell Island. You have to go to the out of the way parts of the island (it's seven miles long) and look at inland, dried flood plains. Then you'll find tons of shells.

the shell island beach was quiet and uncrowded . we felt as if we had it to ourselves. that there weren't too many shells is only because nature cannot be second guessed

This was a nice place to visit. Very quiet beach. I enjoyed it. It would get five stars if they had restrooms. Even portapots would be ok!

We used the shell island shuttle to get to this beautiful island. My kids were exited to collect shells.....boy were they disappointed. The shell finding was better at Edgewater beach! Don't visit with the intention of collection shells. That said, we did enjoy a lovely afternoon on the beach. Helpful hint to parents: there is no bathroom. No private place... More

What can I say. It's a beautiful island. Great swimming. Great walks along a great beach. No trash cans or bathrooms. All natural. Be prepared :)

This is a beautiful beach and we had a blast playing in the water. However, we didn't find any shells. The beaches of panama city had more shells. But it's still neat to see the island, and we would definitely go back.

We rented a pontoon boat from Baypoint Watersports and boated over to Shell Island. The island is pristine, the shells are plentiful and sea life was incredible. Definitely worth a trip!

We found Shell Island to be very beautiful and peaceful. We went for a 90-minute walk that we thoroughly enjoyed. However, there were no shells to speak of. I think we could have had the same experience if we had just walked the beach in St. Andrews State Park, and saved the price of the ferry. We were staying at... More

Very disappointed in Shell Island this trip. The last time we were here we found lots of shells and lots of sand dollars that were whole, not broken. This trip there were no shells. We walked about half the island both ways. Water was very clear. But no shells. Couldn't believe it. Maybe it was just a bad time of... More

shell island is advertised as being a great place to snorkel and find shells. the only shells we found were tiny shells, the waves were too high on one side of the island to snorkel, and when we could, there was nothing to see. the other side was where everyone was dropped off and it had the smell of engines...
