Had time to kill while visiting the area, and found this gem. Beautiful tropical scenery with birds, turtles and fish. While walking the boardwalk through enjoyed reading the many messages carved in the planks at our feet. Dragonflies and lizards all around. There was a shop which was not open (though was suppose to be), so bring your own beverages... More

This place was great to walk around! We saw a lot of wildlife and a lot of great scenery. Definitely a good place to bring visitors or just go to see what you see.

I really like Turkey Creek Sanctuary. It's very peaceful. You will see lots of birds, some butterflies, squirrels, and you might also see some turtles on your walk (in the creek). Lots of shade from trees, so even on a warm summer day the heat is not too bad.

I've visited Turkey Creek several times and each time I see something different. As an herbalist I find it a fascinating place to see a lot of the plants I use medicinally in their native habitat. It's a great place to take the family for a fun afternoon.

Many people don't realize that this great nature preserve also has a workout trail. We've done both the boardwalk nature walk and the workout version and it is great fun.

We started visiting my grandparents in Melbourne in 1996 and every time we ended up at Turkey Creek. So many fond memories of my Grandparents! The sanctuary will make you feel like you are in a south american jungle, the boardwalk is well maintained and the deck boards are fun to read. We have seen gators, manatees, hogs, lizards, giant... Lots of plants and trees are labelled. Some of the trails are not shaded so bring sunblock and water. We have been going here for many years, but the hurricane damage is still noticeable to those of us who visited before the storms came through. There is a long boardwalk that is accessible to wheel chairs. Getting to the boardwalk... More

Visiting TC Sanctuary makes for a nice day trip. You can hike or run the boardwalk and exercise trails. The boardwalk will take you over and through the woods along the Turkey Creek. One area is especially good for spotting manatees, gators and turtles. No bikes in the Sanctuary by the Library and Community center, but just a little farther... More
