If you want to see what attracted so many people to this area over the years...this is the place to visit...see Florida it as it was. Love the down home friendly comfortable lay back attitude...

I love wildlife and had a ball here. I took over 20 pictures of birds and alligators and had the time of my life.

If you want to see Florida as it 'was' (and in some places, still is), take a walk here and see very interesting native plants and animals. A good break from the theme parks.

nice scenery, a od place to walk dogs or go for a nice bike ride. The trail extends into other trails, making more than 15 miles. I believe the trail is longer, but that's as far I have gone so far.

Great Place to eat and relax! I ride my motorcycle here at least once a week. eat at the restaurant then go to the back and relax with a drink enjoying the music in the background and the beautiful sunsets. This is a Florida flat land wilderness area. It is up against the st. john's river and the bugs are pretty bad. I did not see much wildlife at all and it was very hot. No bathrooms, no water, just the wilderness.

This is steps away from me. I go there to walk or bike ride. There are trails paved & unpaved. It is a set aside nature area with NO frills.

The Black Hammock wilderness area is not a huge attraction - but to me that makes it perfect. Not so huge that you can't see it in a few hours, its a nice place to visit if you want a taste of Florida beyond the theme parks. (When we have visitors from the north who want to "see Florida" we... More

I took the Hiking Trail from the parking area off Howard Ave. Amazingly, I saw no one, not one other human being on the entire 4.5 mile hike surrounded by Oviedo FL, a major suburb of Orlando! The information I had found touted the beauty of the boardwalk-traversed, swamp-like area, but I found the unappealing-sounding "scrub" beyond the woods to... More
