Arrived and had to search for someone to ask questions of. Seemed as though my questions were troublesome. Walked for 1 1/2 hours and saw lots of typical Florida underbrush and lizards, but the only wild life to speak of was butterflies! Maybe it was just too hot but really didn't get much from this visit.

This is a great place! It's close to town and beautiful! There is a nice trail with good signs and an education center with fun stuff for the kids! Nice view of the lake, too!

I love this place. Apparently there was a fire and so several trails were closed. Was there a week ago and the Screech Owl trail appeared to be open. I just never get board going here. I wish there were more & longer trails but the Osprey overlook is a great spot to just relax & meditate.

The Preserve is in my neighborhood and I visited to take a walk. There are 3 trails: Pine Circle (.8 mi), Tarflower Loop (2 mi rt) & Palmetto Passage (3 mi rt). Pine Circle is a natural path and in the rainy season it will swamp. During my visit the park officials hoped it to dry enough to use in... More

I can't understand other people on here. It's a nature preserve that just suffered a horrible arson fire and people are rating it like its a walk though the gheto. This place is still WONDERFUL, plenty for the kids to see, place to walk and eat lunch, see turtles, alligators, and other wildlife. The trails will all reopen in January... More

We went there yesterday, to check it out. It sounded like an interesting place (on-line). But only a single trail was available to walk/hike, and that took about 30 minutes. There was not much to see on the Pine Trail; all the other trails were closed. We brought a camera, but didn't see much worth shooting. The weather was gorgeous,... More

Unfortunately the only trail open at the moment is the pine circle trail which is flanked by evidence of the wildfire. the only wildlife we saw or heard was at the end of the walk at the Vera Carter Environmental Center when a racoon decided to peek into the tortoise enclosure before heading back into the bush. Even the birds... More

We visited the Preserve and were saddened to find that the preserve's trails have been closed due to an Arson fire which burned much of the boardwalk. One of the trails may open soon but it will be a long time before the rest of the park is restored to its previous beauty.

The preserve will be closed till at least the end of April due to a wildfire that burnt 5 acres near the exhibit centre in early March. Looked nice but the trails have been torn up by the fire fighting. We will try next year.

It's hard to imagine nature when you visit Orlando. Its suburban sprawl reaches far. But this little bit of nature can be found near most of the major attractions. It's a fantastic short hike through a pine forest to an overlook on a lake shore dotted with Bald Cypresses. These can be beautiful in the winter season. We visited it... More
