studying American history with my child and this was a good place to see history and artifacts. the website is a good place to start with current exhibit information. we didn't have a crowd problem so we took it at our own pace. allow a good hour and a half. wouldn't want to be there if a school group or... We went specifically for a temporary exhibit of Mac Stone's magnificent photo's of South Florida's wetlands - the Everglades, Big Cypress and Corkscrew Swamp. They were wonderful, but we found the rest of the museum to be very good as well. The art was mostly pre-impressionist, realist art, and salon art from the early to mid nineteenth century. They were... More

My husband is an artist. The collection is very beautiful. There are a few famous artists, and also exhibits of local Florida artists. It is better for adults and teenagers. There isn't anything for babies or toddlers.

This town does not have a lot to offer other than being a gateway to cool places. However, this is a great museum. Small and intimate, it has a really cool feel to it. Great architecture. The staff is very friendly and the place is super quiet. The traveling exhibits were really interesting and the permanent ones were good as... More

The collection doesn't feature any well-known artists, but it makes up for that with its organization and the scope of art displayed. All the major movements in European art up for the last 200 years (Dutch, French, German, English, et al) are represented, along with explanations of the work and themes present. The Asian art collection, while smaller than the... More

I don't believe that the marjority of the residents in this area are fully aware of what the Appleton Museum has to offer. I had not been in several years and was impressed by the art on display as well as the gift shop. There were many unique items by local artists available for sale..

This is one of the most outstanding meseums I have visited including those in Washington, DC. This is the best I have ever found in a small town. If you are ever in the area it is a must to see.

We drove by on our way to our hotel but decided to do a u-turn and are we ever glad we did.A real unexpected gem. While they have a nice collection of American & European art the highlight for us was the Asian & African collection. The family were quite the collectors & the results are presented in an informative style.
