Our first visit to the chapel was at daylight and we met the friendly pastor who recommended us to come back when it's dark. So we did and it was absolutely stunning. We also decided to join the Christmas eve celebration and it was the most beautiful worship I have ever witnessed. Beware of the mosquitoes, though! Bring repellent!

We stopped in to say a prayer on Christmas night. The chapel was just what you would imagine it to be; quaint, charming, and a place for reflection. It is a great place for a traveler to stop and say thanks for all of life's gifts.

My wife and I happened to be in the area the night they had Christmas Carols. What a nice event and the decorations gave me goose bumps. Very nice place.

Lovely chapel by the sea. So sweet and worth the stop if you are in Captiva. Interesting history to this little place and the graveyard close by.

Tucked away on Captiva is the historic and charming Chapel By-the- Sea. Nothing fancy here and that is the point....just stop by and enjoy the serenity for a few minutes and then walk out to the beach, which is right there....can you just feel yourself relaxing?

We walked to this from our room. It was not open but was a nice building. The location is quiet and basic. I don't know how old the place is. I imagine it would be nice to attend a service here. Maybe like the island, a melting pot of interesting folk. Worth a stop to look.

What more can be said. Not "touristy" but a quiet & truly "island experience". Beautiful unique and all Captiva!

A small chapel setting right on the water with a small cemetery attached with the early settlers of Captiva buried there.

Make sure you visit during the open season, the chapel is closed from May - November. Nonetheless, it's a beautiful, histrionic building worth visiting.

Chapel was not open ( open in season only ) but you can still walk around outside. There is a cemetery right next door. Go thru the picket fence and walk around. Some headstones are very very old. It's actually listed as an historic site. It's interesting to read & wander thru. Takes a good 30 min & worth the... More
