What more can be said. Not "touristy" but a quiet & truly "island experience". Beautiful unique and all Captiva!

A small chapel setting right on the water with a small cemetery attached with the early settlers of Captiva buried there.

Make sure you visit during the open season, the chapel is closed from May - November. Nonetheless, it's a beautiful, histrionic building worth visiting.

Chapel was not open ( open in season only ) but you can still walk around outside. There is a cemetery right next door. Go thru the picket fence and walk around. Some headstones are very very old. It's actually listed as an historic site. It's interesting to read & wander thru. Takes a good 30 min & worth the... More

My family and I just returned home from Captiva. The Chapel is only open for mass from November to April, which was a bit disappointing. The chapel is charming from the outside and they do have a bulletin board with some historical information on it which is appealing to someone like me who LOVES history, so of course I read... More

We rode our bikes here from the Plantation Beach club at South Seas Resort. Unfortunately the chapel was closed. However, my husband and I spent quite a long while at the little cemetary viewing the historic graves sites. There is a little brochure in a small box at the entrance gate that helps identify the grave. Well worth the ride... More

Be sure to stop by the graveyard, very cool to see how decorated they are and the neat shell displays.

Rode our bikes there only to find out it is open just a few months of the year. Nothing to see when it's closed and therefore the low rating from me.

Interesting little area to walk thru, right along the Gulf of Mexico The graves are of old settlers in the area. (It's a pretty remote island, via Sanibel) We still have an old coconut with shells glued to it that looks like an animal that we bought from some one in that little area, We used the parking area to... I absolutely love this chapel. We have a family friend who is burried here and I make the effort to stop by each time I come to the island. It is so peaceful, people visit, leave and decorate with shells, it's wonderful to reflect and connect with loved ones from past and present. I wouldn't mind ended up sea side... More
