For a free attraction, my 4 year old loved it! There are only a few tanks, but we got there at feeding time which was really cool and the workers took out the crabs for my son to see, etc. They even have little stools for the kids to take around with them to see in the tanks! It's a... More

Great for locals or out of towners to visit to learn about the Indian River and all of the marine life therein. Has touch tanks and aquariums. The children/grandchildren love them.

We took the twice-monthly trip on the Marine Discovery Center's pontoon boat over to disappearing island. It is called the "Islands of Indian River Lagoon Trip'. We had a full complement of guests and a Captain and two naturalist-type staff. Weather was perfect and the ride north on the intercoastal/Indian River Lagoon was beautiful. We saw (and learned about) canal... More

They have a lot of great outdoor activities but only a few small fish tanks inside. With a name like it has I'm not sure what I was expecting but maybe just a little more to see inside on a hot summer day.

Mangroves have been reported to be able to help buffer against tsunami, cyclones and other storms. I learned this and countless other facts about mangroves on this Dolphin tour. Why spend your hard earned money viewing interesting things like dolphins and manatees, when you can see pelicans? In all seriousness, in this two hour dolphin cruise, there was probably 10... More

I am sorry to hear that you did not see any Dolphin on your tour. There is a permanent pod of them in the Lagoon, so it is rare NOT to see any. If you had, I am sure they would have spent more time discussing them. Since we are an educational facility, we do emphasis the importance of the... More

We only had time to make a quick visit. There were some nice exhibits on display with live aquatic animals. Staff was very frendly and helpful. Wish we had time to do the boat tour. Maybe next time!

The weather wasn't great and we were just trying to learn more about what was available at New Smyrna Beach. We turned in here ... and what a pleasant experience. They have lovely, very interesting exhibits, friendly and welcoming personnel, and a "tide pool" exhibit showing some live creatures. They also have some aquariums. We even saw tiny baby sea... This small museum is small, but very informative & interesting! The staff are knowledgeable and enrich the hands on experiences. We like the fact that if has medical care for our sea friends and reminds us to be good stewards of our land and sea!

The Marine Discovery Center is a good starting point to learn about sea life and the shoreline ecosystems in FL. A kayak tour is a great way to see the shore from a different vantage point and to learn about some neat flora and fauna. The Center itself is a work in progress, but has nice displays of live sea... Very interesting dolphin tour. Plenty of dolphins and birds to see. Knowledgeable and fun staff. plenty of time to stop wjen dolphins wete sighted. Try to get a seat on the right side of boat as most birds were on that side. All in all a great trip.
