The 1 1/3 mile trail was not accessible due to all the standing water. Unfortunately we didn't see any panthers.

This refuge is neat. The trail is fenced off to prevent the panthers from running across the highway so as you enter it, you feel like you're entering Jurassic Park. We did the 1/3 mile trail because the longer one hadn't been maintained recently. The shorter one is wheelchair and stroller friendly. We saw 10 panthers during this hike. Just... More

It's convenient, right off I-75 in Naples. High fenced area with travel paths under the roadway. Comes across as a glorified zoo. There are two walking paths, bring a camera, binoculars and mosquito spray (esp. at dusk). Unfortunately there is no visitor center, place to understand the panther more or a place to ofer donations or purchase apparel. To do... More

This area is essentially 2 walking trails, one .3 miles and the other about 1.3 miles. The area is just north of I-75 and Hwy 29. This area was opened to the public in 2005 and is the only public area out of the 26,000+ acres of the Florida Panther refuge. The trails are hard pack and easy to walk... More

We took the 1.3 mile loop on a drive from Orlando to Naples. It gives a good idea of the panther's habitat, although on our visit we hardly saw any animals -- possibly due to it being the middle of the afternoon. We just saw a few birds, some lizards and some scat. I think you'll be really lucky to... More

Very low-key: take exit 80 off I-75 maybe 25-30 miles east of Naples, head north on Rte 90 for about a quarter mile, and enter the parking lot. Get out, enter the gate, and hike. Done. The 1/3 mile loop is fine crushed gravel for accessibility. The 1-1/3 mile loop is tractor-groomed grass about 6' wide. You do have to... More

I hiked the shorter 1/3 mile trail on my first visit. The trail was well maintained with a nice overhead canopy. The next time I visit I will hike the 1 1/3 mile trail that circles the tower.
