On a side street in an old firehouse, this is a nice opportunity to become familiar with the history of Mt. Dora. The volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. This is a bit off the main shopping tracks, but worth the visit for history buffs. I believe the fare was $2.00. 30 minutes to an hour would be sufficient to allot... More

Not a full day, maybe not even an hour. But it does give a quick history and the staff is great. Helps give a good perspective on Mt Dora

I can't remember of the lady that gave us the tour but she knew her history of Mt. Dora. She used to be s school teacher, and I wished she would have been one of mine. She told us a lot of history that most folks don't know. Please go visit.

We visited the museum and were able to get some information to help with our genealogy. The ladies there were very helpful and we enjoyed talking with them.

Tiny museum, stuffed full of fascinating pictures and artefacts from school desks to orange squeezers, railroad timetables to fire hoses, jail house art to bibles. Personalised guided tour, where else would you get that?

Although the Historical Museum was small and hard to find it was worth the stop. It was interesting to see how small at one time fire trucks were and how the town was formed and got its name.

If this is the Mt. Dora / Jail / Museum then I want to tell you it was very interesting. Susan (guide) was very informative and interesting to talk with. Shared a lot of great Mt. Dora History stories.

A lovely little snapshot of life in the town as it was in the last 150 years. It is good to see the historical artefacts being preserved. And we enjoyed talking to the curator who was most informative.
