Owner description: People watching is a great pastime in Miami's South Beach, which draws celebrities and beautiful people in skimpy swim attire to see and be seen. The wide and fine, white sand-covered beaches are popular spots for fashion photo shoots, so you're sure to see models. The area is known for its hip clubs and wild nightlife as well as numerous excellent restaurants.

South Beach reminded us of a coastal Las Vegas. Glitzy hotels, touristy, lots of restaurants and a bit gritty. Now we didn't see all of South Beach, we were just there a few days. Lincoln road is a "strip" of sorts for tourists, but we felt safe. The beach was nice, but kind of a steep drop off near our... More

As a long time local,South Beach is great placed to get ripped off. Go up north in Miami for less expensive, shopping. Unusal grocery advice for tourist looking to save money: Walmart, cheapest store for grocerys in all of Miami, possibly. Beware: ·Parking ·Traffic ·Overpriced restaurants (How does $5 for a cup of milk sound to you?Wait till you see the... More

Great to sit and people watch while sipping fine French chablis at Yuca Cuban American restaurant off the the pedestrian walk way from Collins Avenue. Truly an international city destination!

Living in SoCal, and having visited beaches in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, France, Bahamas; this is not worth a visit. The beaches are dirty and feel unsafe. Go elsewhere

When we went it was scorching hot on the first day and the water was perfect, though not too clear. the second day we had rain but this just meant a nice long walk down to the pier collecting many gorgeous shells :) the last day was very windy but the sun was out so we caught some rays but... It's a nice long strip of the beach area with enjoyable atmosphere. You can play around, walk or just lay down and relax. The chairs, umbrellas, etc. are available for rent. The surrounding are with historic hotels and restaurants is a good walk to have too.

If you've never been to SoBe, you have to visit at least once. Ocean Rd, "The Strip", is lined with old historic hotel buildings, in which many have been modernized on the inside. Most have small sidewalk cafés right in front. There are too many restaurants to name or try. But most have similar menus: pastas, seafood, sandwiches , steaks,... More
