I have been a slot fanatic for 20 years now after growing up close to Atlantic City. I've been in South Florida for 11 years. A few years ago, slots did pay out consistently. You didn't always win, but playing a few hours with 50 bucks was fun and worth it. This past year, the slot payouts have become so... More

Classic Florida Racetrack. Going to Calder is like stepping back in time. The place has an old school charm about it.

I have been there many times, buffet restaurant on the first floor used to be excellent until management got greedy and started charging extra $$$ for the good stuff, some of the best pizza in Miami is made there. the casino is a rip-off, avoid it. Good horse races for enthusiast.

If you have horse crazy kids, Calder offers a free up-close and personal view from the stables to prep, post and the winners circle. It's a horse track and designed with bettors in mind, but again it's free - unless of course you want to place your bets on the thoroughbreds racing down the track then of course, you're on... More

My husband is a horserace fan. We fit a track in most our vacation. This is our second visit to Calder and might be our last. I myself am not a fan but seem to fine ways to enjoy the experience in other tracks. Last time we were here my daughter came along. I recall having a good time. Nice... More

The smaller of the two racecourse in Miami, Gulfstream is currently acting the big bully towards it, but still a good day out on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. First post is 1230pm with a minimum of 8 races a day. Facilities are saprse but they charge no entry fee with $3 for a race program. Has facilities to bet... More

I went for the Preakness stakes. I was looking for a teller to bet and a place to count my money, when I turned around a man locked eyes with me. It was awkward. He kept going just past me and stopped to tie his shoe. I went the other way and jumped on the escalator. About half way up... More

Had read mixed reviews of the Race Course but decided to go during our visit to Hollywood. I liked the fact that the paddock was near the course and betting hall, so that i could see the horses in the paddock and then nip inside to place my bet before the off. Good viewing area, especially the home straight. Good... More

I thought this was a great place to visit. Its not as grandiose as Gulfstream Park or Churchill Downs but its a great clean place. The negative reviews I've read scared me off a bit but when I went I thought it was a wonderful clean place. They keep it well manicured and clean. They have great wings you can... More

I have been going to Calder since it opened in 1971. Now the track is a racino. The casino looks nice and has all the slot machines anyone could want. The race track is another story. The track is in deep need of repair and renovation. The seats inside the track are all very uncomfortable. The track looks dingy. They obviously... More
