Nestled in North Miami just off Biscayne Boulevard and 163rd street lies this gem the Oleta River State park provides a haven for a bit of quiet ( ish) escape from city life. It's hard to believe you are within easy reach of Miami. Plenty of space to walk, jog, cycle ( you can hire from a concession) as well... More

I wasn't expecting such an amazing place and can't believe that for all the years I've been living in Miami, I never heard of it. It's beautiful, well kept, affordable, very clean, friendly and inspiring to say the least. The beach is clear water, sandy and free of algae. A lot of people were kayaking, and honestly I need to... Visited the park on the weekend, and here comes the first tip, it was very crowded. We waited about 30 minutes to get the kayaks. So I heavily recommend if you get the opportunity to go on a weekday, everything will go faster. As for the experience itself it was awesome for most of the part. For around 40 dollars... More

It's a complete park in an urban area, right down Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami Beach. There are grill pits, pavillions, camping sites,, cabins, fishing, hiking, bike trails, beaches, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. Blue Moon Outdoor Center offers several tours. The park is surrounded by mangroves , wildlife, and lots of birds. I spotted a manatee, and a couple of... More

We had a great time kayaking from Oleta kayak rentals! After getting out of the crush of people returning and heading out, we were in a large bay! Stopped at a small beach, then paddled over to the island and joined the fun with other kayakers and boats!

Loved how you could see the towering buildings from different parts of the park and still feel like you are in nature. The park offers kayaking, canoeing, biking, and hiking. It is a little expensive, but the price is what one might expect in Miami.

I think you should be able to cycle there but when I was there, I went for kayaking. There was a long queue so please go early or call in advance to book a kayak. The routes are pretty easy and if you move further out into the open water, it get a little challenging fighting the currents. Just make... More

Took my two year old daughter and she loved it! Nice and shallow waters for her to play in. Lots of picnic tables to bring some lunch with you as well. Parking fee was 6 bucks :)
