beautifully reconstructed old Spanish monastary, especially the chapel, not your usual Miami attraction !
This is an accidental missed item from W. R. Hearst's relentless collecting. The website has details, which should pique anybody's interest. Tucked away in a slightly downscale semi-industrial area in northern Miami this would not be an automatic choice for tourists. Missing it would be a mistake. The restoration is reasonably well done and the visit is a refreshing change... More
As a Miami resident, I think it's worth a visit at least once. I would not recommend it to a passing tourist though unless you stay for more than two weeks. The abbey has a nice garden, nice statues and in hot weather, the cloister is very welcome because it's both airy and covered. It's also a wonder in itself... More
Beautiful old buildings and beautiful grounds. Unique. This was a long way from downtown Miami. Check the opening hours. We got there just as it was closing at 2pm to be set up for a wedding.
OVER A THOUSAND YEARS OF HISTORY ! You don't need a passport to go to Spain its here in North Miami Beach . I can not believe this is a treasure that the Spanish lost and we got. It's like walking through the pages of a history book.. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. At the visitors center we... More
This place is beautiful. We Americans have nothing like this in our history. A must see. It is so beautiful and peaceful.
The monastery is a little old gem embedded in a brand new city, the oldest building in USA for sure. The garden is really nice, the building is beautiful - maybe because was made in europe centuries ago - and walking in the cloisters you can almost feel in medieval Spain. Frankly i could live without christmas decorations in the... More
I found this to be a fascinating building. The history of how it was transported to the US and rebuilt was amazing! For a few blissful hours I felt as if I were back in Spain! It is so quiet here in the middle of North Miami Beach----a real respite. The gardens and chapel are lovely.
