We had fun checking out the wetlands and seeing lots of birds, turtles and an alligator. We drove around the ponds with windows open as my mom is 87 and she was able to see so much from the car.

Reliable for Crested Caracara, American Bittern in Winter and Least Bittern in Summer, as well as, all the usual waders, including Limpkins. Easy to use, even for handicapped birders.

The road needed grading due to all the rain, so there was no driving. So we walked and saw many birds, and lots of alligators, from some that were about 2 ft long to one that was about 8 feet long. Last time we were there we saw a small heard of deer. If you like to bird watch, photograph... More

These wetlands are a great place for birdwatching. You can drive or walk. We opted to drive around. There is an elevated platform for viewing. NO other amenities here other than a satellite toilet if needed. Bring your binoculars and bird book. A little difficult to find as signage to the area is minimal-follow road back as far as possible... More

This is a free wildlife preserves where you can see alligators, otters, turtles, and many birds. Sometimes we will only see ducks and a few other birds such as Blue Herons and other times we see everything. In late January, the birders jam the preserve. They are not usually disappointed. My only caution is do not go after a heavy... More

Let me start off by saying that there is a good deal of wildlife here, and you can see it from your car. That is good and bad because while you can get your wildlife fix without too much effort it also attracts the fat, lazy, and dumb tourists who and to see an alligator without paying to get in... The types and amount of wildlife you'll see visiting here varies depending on the time of year. This last visit in December we saw plenty of gators along the bank and in the water. Mid winter you tend to see loads of birds that have migrated south from the cold. Your best bet is the left and middle loops through... More

Whenever we have people visiting from out of state we take them on a drive through the wetlands. Be sure to open your car windows because the sounds are as good as the sights. I've seen Roseate spoonbills, alligators, egrets, herons, otters, bald eagles and much more. I actually hesitate to give this such a glowing review - I prefer... More

Depending on the time of year, this is a great place for birding. You will see several photographers with the zoom lens (myself included) out there taking pics. Birds, Gators, Otters, Raccoon, and many more animals You can walk the loops, or take your car. However, please slow down to the 15mph speed limit :-)
