I am a birdwatcher and this is a lovely area to see many birds close by. It is a water reclamation area for the county, that became popular with locals as a place to take a brief drive, stroll or cycle to look at the many wading and other birds that gather there. It has become a popular attraction and... More

Best viewing of native birds in Brevard. It is a wonderful place to see birds all year round, but it's especially nice in winter with all the seasonal visitors.

I went twice in the past week (mid-April). Once at about 10:30 AM and the second time at 7:00 AM. Lots of birds at both hours--ranging from Great Blue Herons to Redwing Blackbirds. Saw GBHs and Anhingas on their nests with hatchlings. Plus a pair of Sandhill Cranes with small chicks. The light was very good for photographs starting about... More

We went here twice last week, unfortunately we didn't have enough time to really do it justice. The birds are numerous, the variety is amazing and it's just an all around wonderful place to see the birds of Florida. Highlight for us was seeing a pair of Sandhill cranes with two very young chicks, the chicks are known as "colts"... More

We spent 4 hours here, it was so wonderful. Not busy, the people there love birds, love taking pictures, and love sharing their experiences. It was obvious there were regular visitors! We drove around the outside perimeter, stopping all the time to watch and photograph a great variety of birds, then we drove through the inner roads. It is easy... More

This is a very peaceful place to hike, walk, photograph wildlife. Many birds inhabit the wetlands and yes there are alligators wandering around. We were glad to be in our car.

The Viera Wetlands are a really good place if you like birding and/or photographing wildlife. We stopped the car and got out to walk around, looking at the wide variety of birds - Egrets, Herons, Stilts, Teals, Coots, Sandhill Cranes, Red-winged Blackbirds, Gulls, Terns, Pelicans, and more. Add to that a lot of alligators - some small, some very large,... More

February and March are great for birding. We have seen sora rails, blue heron on the nest with 4 babies. Today we saw an alligator on her nest along with sandhill cranes. Earlier we had seen a mother raccoon with 3 babies in a hollowed out tree. Just too many birds to mention but did include loggerhead shrikes, bald eagles, osprey, king rail and... More

Despite some bad reviews we went to this place and were not disappointed. The guy that said he only spent 15 min. was crazy - you can't even drive through in that time (speed limit is 10mph). He obviously is not a birder. We were there almost 2 hours and saw crested caracara, northern harriers, white pelicans, bitterens, anhinga, cormorants,... More
