great peaceful place with thousands of migratory birds and gators around to ponds. Look away from the water towards the edge of the property for deer, cattle and other wild life.

Walk the trails amongst gators and a plethora of birds. One gator we nicknamed "The Man-Eater" as he was incredibly huge, and enjoyed basking in the sun. It is a great place for a walk.

This nature preserve is available by walking, biking or driving an automobile. The road can be very bumpy and puddle filled depending on recent rainfall. Expect to see a spectacular wetlands full of birds nesting, on the water, and flying about. The variety of birds is astounding. There are bird identification cards available at the large kiosk at the entrance.... More

The Viera Wetlands is a treasure for this area because it attracts such a diverse range of wildlife. You'll almost always see an alligator, plus a variety of herons, egrets, and ibis. There are resident bald eagles, caracara, a northern harrier pair, and a peregrine falcon. The winter/spring brings in lots of migrating ducks, including teal, shovelers, and everyone's favorite... I can not guarantee gators every visit. I visit there very often because my mother in law is suffering from Alzheimer's. She responds to the wildlife. Best time is on a sunny day around noon. Often times there will be gators on the bank sunning themselves. Other times they will be real close to the water's edge. Sometimes, the only... More

We didn't catch the Caracara, but we saw dozens of other birds, many in large numbers. Herons, storks, cranes, vultures, pelicans, egrets, sparrows, palm warblers ... too many to list.

This has such an abundance of birds, alligators and turtles. When the birds are migrating through the area, the number and variety of birds are amazing. This is a must see for everyone!

Beautiful wildlife park hidden in the middle of town. Lots of birds and alligators living in a man made nature habitat. Unpacked driving path. Slow down & enjoy nature. Wonderful outing. Exciting to see so many alligators.
