Parking can be a problem here. But getting to the beach is worth the effort and expense. This white sandy beach is quite wide. It's good for sunbathing or just walking barefooted on the sand by water's edge. It wasn't crowded when I was here. My rating is a 3 1/2.

Unbeknownst to me before our visit to Marco Island, the ranger told me there is NO parking for recreational vehicles on the island, dogs are not allowed on the beach, and FL law prohibits leaving pets in your vehicles. The beaches are lovely, but there are NO facilities. Public parking is $8 regardless of length of stay (half hour costs... More

Limited parking, hourly or full day for $8; in season, get here early, or ride your bike. Like all Marco public beaches, free life jackets are offered for kids (Great Idea!). Beach stretches north for about four miles and is extremely wide. Great white sand, well groomed by the city. Lunch is available at several of the hotels and resorts... More

When I visited South Carolina, they had beach rules that were dependent on the time of year and number of people on the beach. When things were quiet, they allowed dogs ... even without leashes as long as owners had them under control. When my wife and I went to South Marco Beach it was a cool day and on... More

Just back from my 3rd vacation in Marco Island and it continues to get better and better! The weather, people, beaches and restaurants are all top notch! We found the island is changing and much younger and vibrant feel to it. We love south marco beach, tiger tail beach and walking The Esplanade! Cannot wait to go back next year!!... More

South Marco Beach is a nice beach- clean and well kept, but with no amenities/facilities which means everything that you need/want must be brought to the beach (chairs, umbrellas, refreshments, etc...). Parking is across the street and limited, costing $8 (a few people had issues trying to use their credit card and change is not provided so bring $8 with... More
