We went on a catamaran trip during our stay in marco island and we stopped at life island to do some shelling. Favourite part of our holiday so far!! Found some shells that are apparently rare too. Great time.

South of Marco and accessible only by boat. It's a 10 minute ride from the south end of Marco. Many dolphins and manatees. The Dome Homes are very interesting.

Great place to land your boat, picnic and fish from the beach. Lovely, quiet. Please remember to pick up after you leave.

When my husband and I were dating in 2002, we used to go in his 17 foot Cobia boat to Kice Island to walk. WE HAD THE ISLAND ALL TO OURSELVES. It was if he had his very own private beach! Then Hurricane Wilma hit and rearranged the island a bit by opening a spit in its center. And, now... More

Pretty, uninhabited, and great shelling. Can only get there by boat or jet ski. Jet skis work a little better in the shallow water. And you will probably see a few dolphin along the way. Leave from the Caxambas Pass boat launch and it's only a few minutes ride. Just beautiful!

Not much there other than some good shells and a shell of a home that was built in the 70s and has been slowly eroding into the water. Looks like something out of Star Wars.

Was nice to see the domes still there after moving away from Marco in 1996, although I fear the ocean will claim them soon. The shelling was still good, take a dolphin tour from the Marriott and there is a one hour stop on the Cape.

I would tell all how awful Kice Island and its cape are so I can have it all to myself. Thankfully you mst have local boating knowledge to really enjoy this place. It is truly where the sidewalk ends.

Good scenery awaits travelers to this area but water depths can cause problems for most boats. Visitors should take a guide, have local knowledge or travel very slowly. The outside (ocean side) is a hard bottom of coral in places and the inside is mucky for the most part. A few nice beaches can be accessed from the outside but... More

my husband and I took kayaks out there this morning. Ugly, stinky, littered with fish carcasses, dozens of vultures, and zero interesting shells. Plus a very tough paddle out, and even tougher paddle back (in no wind) because of the currents. If you have friends with a motorized boat or jet ski, sure, check it out. But otherwise, no need!
